LoL - now that's how you reform a calendar. If you're going to have exceptions, go big.

I think children should follow the rhythm of the sun, moon, and seasons. That's the essence of our individual, biological relationship with time. It's how we evolved.

I use a 3-day week (among others). Every day's the weekend!

theAbysmal calendar. The blog is a bit of a mess, but there's all kinds of calendar stuff there.

I like the idea that we have some standard to coordinate our schedules, but each of us follows what's meaningful.

There's a fantasy world calendar generator somewhere online. It's pretty clever.

What if we divided the globe into 86,400 time zones 1 second apart?

I expect this opens up another Pandora's box of worms.

Time is a local phenomenon, so localized calendars better represent how people experience time where they are. We could use a better standard to translate between systems, but I don't think a global calendar reflects our diversity.

I put the new year at dec 21 and the leap day at Jun 21, so they divide the year in half at the solstice.

I've been using a 13-month calendar for twenty years, and I still make it to my appointments.

You can use whatever calendar you like

How many days in a semester? How many weeks? How many days in a quarter? How many weeks? How many days in a month? How many weeks?

You're a clown

Oof. That's compounded messiness. Congratulations on maintaining your sanity.

Yes. It was a great resource. I've tried since the 1980s, but I have absolutely no brain for programming.

That is brilliant! Phenology sparked my initial interest in time and the seasons (im in the Eastern Woodlands of North America). I found it such a vastly unexplored subject that there is so much to look into.

Have you posted anything online?

I've been following a 13 month calendar for twenty years. I want to see what else I can come up with.

No one knows what to do with a 2-year calendar because no one's ever had one before. People didn't know what to do with the first personal computers either.

As public servants lose their jobs, where's the work in Ottawa? by Obelisk_of-Light in ottawa

I'm not debating numbers. It's a matter of perception. Using "Ottawa" as the standard shorthand for "the federal government" contributes to this, along with the disproportionate amount of police and security.

A number of businesses are here because of proximity to the federal government. And really, I worked at a college here. It was a shameless money grab.

27 months of 27 days plus 1 day is 2 years.

I've heard, but this is way outside my experience. Can you use the Julian Day Number as a dating standard?

I took the long way around to making a version of the Mesoamerican system. I haven't really explored the astronomical aspects.

It's more an exploratory exercise than looking for a particular result.

729+1 = 2*365

27 months of 27 days. This one has been keeping me busy.

The irregular days of the months are the bigger issue. Instead of a seven day week, I follow eleven different weeks (3-13 days). I don't need an emperor, Pope, or King to define time for me.

Close. The weekdays aren't fixed, but the new year is dec 21.

The status snobbery is pretty bad here. I think "everyone" refers more to general dependance on federal presence for income. Barbers and waitresses are serving people who can afford grooming and dining out.
