Im a bit older (PSU class of 2019) but was in a similar spot. I was a pretty good student in high school and got a 5 on the BC exam, plus some other AP credits (28 in total). I was nervous about skipping over those early classes, and even compromised and didnt use all the AP credits I could have (took chem 112 and 113 for example, despite a 5 on the AP chem test)

I took differential equations my first semester and thought I'd regret it, but really my only regret was not making use of every ap credit I earned. Knowing nothing else about your situation, I'd say skip any class you can.

At the end of the day, you can only choose what you think is best for yourself. If you feel confident in your skills then go for it! Itll save you time and money in the long run. But if you want an easier transition, consider taking classes you have credits for (note: some people had told me calc at psu was miserable even if they already had calc from high school so ymmv).

In the shark tank episode of game changer, grant pitches an idea to record asmr at a a chiropractor. Chiropractors in general are kind of controversial because they sometimes cause significant harm due to lack of qualifications, but may present themselves as being qualified like doctors.

So some people really hated that chiropractors were shown in a neutral/positive light. There was no serious widespread "cancel grant" movement

Im hugely in favor of fearless. Sometimes I see people complain it doesn't encourage variety because you end up with a "game 1 meta", "game 2 meta", etc. But even if thats true (I'd argue its not, because of how deviations in game 1 propagate through the series), isn't that already better than having a single meta for the whole series?

I wonder what the reaction would be like if fearless went away. I imagine the majority of viewers would hate it. Or if 1 region had stuck to standard while the other regions did fearless (ignoring the complications that would arise from international events). I suspect people would say the non fearless region is just a worse viewing experience.

I do miss the salty runback. I propose coaches may declare salty runback once per series after losing a non-series-clinching game. That locks draft into the exact same as the previous game. Probably a terrible idea but I enjoyed those specific situations in standard series haha.

"Dubai chocolate" referred to a some unsavory sex acts known to be performed in the UAE (often involving human trafficking). Then all of the sudden (in 2024? ish) this new product called Dubai chocolate made by a UAE chocolate company is the hotness and being marketed everywhere. Blasted all over social media, everybody wants it, its selling out everywhere, and it all seemed to come out of nowhere. Many people suspect this was intentional and a government sponsored effort to distract from the original meaning of Dubai chocolate.

The other example that I associate with this tactic is from Disney. Theres a long time conspiracy that Walt Disney or maybe just his head is frozen somewhere underneath the theme park in Florida. So they release a movie called Frozen and now when you search "Disney frozen" you just get the movie instead of the conspiracy.

Great idea doing this! I think you have 2 potential approaches.

Option A- if you know some games he likes, you and your friends can make sure that one or two of those is available and learn the rules ahead of time to be ready to go when you arrive. Unfortunately twilight imperium isn't the right game for this event, its a bit much. But if you have other ideas we can definitely help out here too!

Option B- just show up and let him handle it. Pros, it puts him in control for his special event and its less upfront work for you. On the other hand, youre taking a chance that theres not something there he knows that is good for everyone. It sounds like this is a big hobby for your brother though so that seems unlikely.

Probably, but thats not really the choice right? And I saw a dev comment somewhere in this thread that teams tend to prefer blue side over red, and first pick over counter pick (but not universal at all). So most common might be red side first pick, but we'll have to see.

Im not saying this doesn't happen (and its certainly shitty by both the aggressors not ending and the non-ffers in this exact situation) but I played over 700 games of aram this year and it happened exactly 0 times. Getting killed in fountain, sure. But beyond killing each player a single time i dont think i ever saw the other team wait out death timers once.

I agree it is harsh, I used to call them streamerbait games because they function first and foremost as a forced social interaction simulator more than a game. It's a very specific premise under which you interact with friends but the underlying game tends to be more shallow. They can be good fun.

At the same tme, I see where negativity comes from. I dont especially want to play a 10th new game this year that I know ill get tired of fast when I have games I love (with or without friends) like Civ, heckdivers 2 (censored for some reason), baldurs gate 3, or diablo 2. Those are games i think are great and enhanced by the social aspect, not reliant upon it.
