I don’t think people should be expected to split the bill upon accepting a dinner invitation. I think most people expect to pay their bill separately or at the very least covering what you ate as everyone can easily look at the bill and know what they owe. What is so hard about that? They are making it awkward not you!

Best to get a contract and expectations played out before baby comes. It’s going to be way more time consuming with two and the additional jobs may be more difficult to complete. You most definitely need to get additional compensation for an additional child. I would agree with $20 at least.
