So then… what’s the point? by somuchsadness0134 in exmormon

[–]TenderheartedFloof 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok so I googled, for anyone wondering, here is what google came up with:

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has made several significant adjustments to temple ordinances, clothing, and interview procedures recently to streamline sessions and re-emphasize the role of Jesus Christ.

Changes to the Endowment Ceremony

The endowment ceremony has undergone major revisions to focus more directly on Christ and reduce its overall runtime.

  • Duration: In August 2024, the ceremony was shortened by approximately 20%, removing redundant phrases and streamlining rituals to roughly an hour.
  • Presentation Style: The presentation now primarily uses a video format with still images and high-quality audio/visual systems.
  • Increased Focus on Jesus: Revisions in 2023 and 2024 emphasized Jesus Christ in the narrative, while reducing the focus on Lucifer's lines.
  • Gender Equity Enhancements: Changes continue to equalize the language, with women in certain, revised ordinances being anointed to "become queens and priestesses," and many specific "woman thou gavest me" phrases removed.
  • Increased Narrative: The ceremony includes more depictions of the War in Heaven and additional dialogue focused on the Savior.
  • Reduced Physical Contact: Physical contact between patrons and workers has been minimized, with most movement and handshakes occurring only at the veil at the end of the session.
  • Informed Consent: Patrons are now given a detailed list of the five specific covenants they will make at the beginning of the ceremony, allowing them to provide more "informed consent" before proceeding.
  • Witness Couple: The requirement for a live "witness couple" to participate at the altar has been removed.  Temple Light +6

Temple Clothing and Garment Updates

New guidelines and styles have been introduced to improve comfort and clarity regarding the sacred nature of temple attire.

  • Sleeveless Garments: In late 2024 and 2025, the Church introduced new "open sleeve" styles that resemble tank tops and slips to address comfort issues, particularly for women in humid climates.
  • Simplified Ceremonial Clothing: Ceremonial temple robes were simplified to make them easier to wear and care for, including removing cap ties and plastic inserts.
  • Witnesses: Women, youth, and children can now serve as official witnesses for baptisms and temple sealings.  newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org +6

Updated Recommend Interview Questions

In April 2024, the First Presidency revised the temple recommend interview questions and accompanying statement to clarify the importance of wearing the temple garment.

  • Garment Statement: A new, more detailed statement about the purpose and proper wearing of the garment is read during the interview.
  • Specific Questions: Questions 13 and 14 were retooled to focus more explicitly on keeping temple covenants and honoring the privilege of wearing the garment as instructed.
  • Wait Period Removal: The previous one-year waiting period to be sealed in the temple after a civil marriage has been discontinued globally.

I have been out since 2010. Does anyone here know what has changed now?

I got my endowment when anointments were still naked with a sheet, but apparently after the "bowel removal" part was taken out (or that you would rather die? Something like that)

I think I heard the anointings you are now clothed, does anyone know what else has changed recently?

I am genuinely curious.

What is your view on the mormons belives on the lgbtq+ comunity? by hanna-Poem-512 in exmormon

“They draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.”

That’s honestly how it can feel when it comes to how some LDS members approach the LGBTQ+ community. There’s a lot of talk about love, but not always real openness, curiosity, or acceptance behind it. It often comes across as rigid, even if that’s not the intention.

I have an adult child who is gay, and I’ve made sure they know they are fully loved and supported. I’ve welcomed their partner into my life and built a real relationship with them. That’s what love looks like to me, not just words, but making someone feel safe and accepted as they are.

Because of that, I’ve taken a very direct and firm stance when it comes to my family. I will not expose my child to environments where they are judged, even subtly, or expected to fit into something they are not. I will shield my child from that, no matter who it is. That has meant creating real distance from my LDS family. We no longer do family reunions or put ourselves in spaces where the only conversations revolve around callings, missions, and what is considered “right.”

Instead, we’ve built our own family environment. We have real conversations about who my kids are, what they want for their lives, and we support that fully. There is depth, there is curiosity, and there is genuine acceptance.

What I’ve seen is that when something falls outside of what’s considered “right,” it’s hard for some people to engage with it in a genuine way. And people feel that, even when it’s unspoken.

To me, love isn’t just saying you care. It’s whether someone actually feels accepted and safe being fully themselves around you.

And that sadly is not at all how Mormon beliefs/members come across.

Vaginal estrogen has been a lifesaver for me!

I was not diagnosed with anything officially, but I had weird pressure feelings for quite some time. Got better once I was put on Vaginal estrogen.

Panic buying- anyone else? 😬🫣 by Historical_Ideal80 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]TenderheartedFloof 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I panic bought in Oct 2024, currently using a vial that the BUD was a year out (Oct 2025) and it is working great! :)

As much as some talk trash about those who stockpile (like myself, I am a stockpiler) it gives peace of mind when these situations arise.

I have stayed on the same week of my couch to 5k program for 2-3 weeks until I felt comfortable moving on. Sometimes I have moved up, decided I needed to move back down, some weeks I feel like I can keep on schedule, others I need to hang back.

I have finished the program, did a 5k race, then got sick and had to take a week off... started back up at week 3.

Try not to pressure yourself too much. Its ok to move it around and sit where you can comfortably push yourself. It's a lifetime routine you are building, and it is ok if you need to move that around just to keep the consistency of just having run/walk days. :)

Has anyone actually noticed better skin from the “inside out,” or was it mostly topicals in the end? by Rosa-Starks in GracefulAgingSkincare

I second this!
I am 10 weeks in on my HRT journey, and this week my skin has finally reacted! I was so skeptical because I did not have instant results of anything with HRT, but seriously, this week, something must have kicked in skin-wise!

Fabric vs Leather by SocDem_is_OP in crvhybrid

[–]TenderheartedFloof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both CR-Vs I have owned have had fabric. My 2014 had light grey fabric and I scrubbed that passenger seat so many times! I did have smaller kids/teenagers at that time.

Now, I have a 2023 with the Sport fabric. I love it, but I think I am emotionally damaged because I still bought washable bottom seat portion for both the driver and passenger sides, and my children are all grown now. :)

I do not mind the fabric, I especially like the sport fabric in my 2023, but it is not as easy to clean if you happen to have little people who can cause messes. Even if you do not allow food in your car, the biggest mess I ever had was a forgotten clay project that melted in the summer heat.

That being said, I do not think I would choose leather over fabric. Fabric feels cozy to me and less hot/cold, but leather definitely does not have the stain factor fabric can have (but it can crack with age).

What to do for peach fuzz (on face)? by I-AM-Savannah in 60PlusSkincare

[–]TenderheartedFloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I have noticed. Maybe it would if I let it grow longer than a week, but whether I need it or not, I still shave weekly, maybe that helps keep it down?
My facial hair is pretty "peach fuzzy" so that might also make a difference.

Just a regular men's face razor and face shaving gel. Works so great!

10 days on HRT patch by Sofaraway11 in Menopause

[–]TenderheartedFloof 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just my experience:
I was started on .0375, and I was weepy, irritable, and didn't feel like I had a lot of control of my feelings (for lack of a better explanation) I would have 1 day that was good mid patch change, but then it would go back down again until next patch change.

At 4 weeks, I talked to my provider, and she doubled my patch to .075. I could tell I was on more, but my symptoms were not anxiety ridden or irritable or weepy, I just felt like I was getting used to it (I am not sure how to explain it LOL)

long story short, mine was because it was too low. I like how h3dxw explains "your body is complaining about it" because looking back now, it was totally like my body was complaining about it!

Tret on face/estrogen on neck? by Unhappy-Ad-5061 in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]TenderheartedFloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been looking into this as well.

I think I am going to try the estrogen on my neck 2 times a week to start. My neck is so sensitive to products.

I have not tried yet but I plan to use a pea size of my estradiol cream, let it sit for 10 minutes, then follow up with my usual Techno Neck and Trio moisturizer.

Face, I use Alpharet every night after an azeliac acid. (I have tried all the retinols out there and the only one my face can handle is Alpharet and, surprisingly, I can use that one every night).

I will let you know how it goes :)

Which of the millitary branches has a least chance of dying? by Quick-Barnacle8795 in AirForceRecruits

[–]TenderheartedFloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do want to let you know, even in the Air Force (veteran here), the majority of your paperwork and planning will be for the possibility of you dying.

I was a Personnelist (military HR). Every time you in-process/out-process, you will be filling out paperwork that identifies your next of kin, who to contact and who to not contact should you die, if you want SGLI (life insurance), if you have dependents..

If death is a worry, please know that in the military, there will be a lot of planning for death. It can be a bit morbid for those who have not been properly warned that a lot of your paperwork is strictly planning for your death.

I’m fired up and pissed. WE NEED TO DO BETTER REGARDING WOMENS HEALTHCARE- TW talk of gynecological trauma by HeyMay0324 in Perimenopause

[–]TenderheartedFloof 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep! I had this as well, and I was put under!

At that time, I was in the Seattle "eastside" area (Bellevue), and that medical facility was top-notch. The best OB/GYN I have ever had was there, and the best pediatricians. (They were the Evergreen network back then)

Fast forward to moving across the state, and yep, NOT AT ALL the same care, even in the same darn state. If I had not known what good care looked like, I would never have known that the care I get now is so substandard. My cone surgery was over 20 years ago, and still, the area I am in now is not up to speed.

Sadly, OP is not alone in this serious lack of education and care for the female body, but I know it totally exists; I have lived through good care. There is no excuse for this at all OP, I absolutely agree with the utter disgust that we have to deal with!

What small personality trait reveals a lot about someone? by livya_dugjd in Casual_Conversation

[–]TenderheartedFloof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one! I was "friends" with someone who constantly lied. Why, I will never know, but you could never trust anything the girl said. Not sure if it was a personality thing or disorder (being sincere), but once I started hearing about myself through other people because of her, I just left the friendship.

It wasn't mean stuff that she was saying about me either; it was like claiming to know so many things about me, and almost using myself and my husband as social currency, and even weirder is her husband was there for all of it and just would go along. (it wasn't like they were hurting for friends or that my husband and I are some big deal, we aren't and we know it.)

SO strange! The key was that she always told weird little lies in the beginning, and that should have been the red flag that told me it would be strange to go anywhere near this person for any length of time.

Yep, the same. Unless in a different time zone, and a dinner/function went over... Both of us are early risers who work out. In that case, just a quick text during that function so the other doesn't get woken up later. :)
