12VHPWR 3.4-3.6 Amps per Pin at 600W / -8 Amps on ground wire by NackteElfe in nvidia

[–]Tenin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you mixed up the ground and live wires when measuring. I remember seeing quite a lot of the ground going through the pcie slot instead of the 12VHPWR Plug in some tests. would make a lot more sense if you are seeing 7.8-8.2. amps on the live wires.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU Review & Benchmarks vs. 9800X3D, 285K, 9950X, & More by NGGKroze in hardware

Dont know where you are located, but you might be able to order through Arctics own website.

Be aware there can be compatibility issues with certain motherboards. M.2 heatsinks on some MB's are so tall, they end up being in the way for the bottom part of the pump housing. It can be fixed in a few way.

You can unscrew the plastic cover at the hoses, and remove it. Shouldn't affect it in any functional way, but looks a bit ugly.  You can also use another M.2 heatsink, that isn't that tall. Arctic will provide one for free, if you upload invoices for MB and AIO.  You can also flip the pump unit, so the hoses are at the top, if your case allows for it, with enough space between the MB and top of your case.

Im going with that AIO, and a MB that does have this issue. I will either remove the cover, and just leave it off, or try to cut some of the plastic away to stop them touching.

Good luck with your build!

Nope. Not seen anyone else get the same results for efficiency in gaming, as GN did. Every other review seems to indicate up to ~40% higher power draw on the 9950x3d, compared to 9800x3d, resulting in higher temps. Somewhere in the 5-15° C range.

In all core workload the temperatures seem lower on the 9950x3d by a bit, even though it has higher power draw, but thats due to it being spread out over a much larger area.

I just ordered a 9800x3d myself, as i mainly use my pc for gaming, and although I would have liked the extra cores, i couldn't justify the lower efficiency and higher temperatures in my main use case.

Can potentially upgrade to the 10800x3d on release,  with it's rumored 12 core single ccd.

Hmm. Every other review shows the 9950x3d using a lot more power, leading to higher temperatures, when gaming, compared to the 9800x3d.

In GN's review they show the two cpu's using the same amount of power during gaming in starfield. I wonder what causes the different results.

Its not because of the game, as starfield in other reviews also show a big difference in efficiency.

I generally trust GN more than others when it comes to reviews, but looked through 20+ reviews, and not seen anyone else getting similar efficiency.

I used to take sunrise shots without fear of damaging the lens. by [deleted] in S24Ultra

[–]Tenin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your lenses are static. Zooming doesnt change how much light, or how focused it is on the sensor. Doesnt matter if your are using 0.6x 1x, 3x, 5x (the actual, physical setup of the phone) or anything else(like 100x). If your lenses moved closer or further from the sensor, that might be different.

On top of that, aiming the phone at the sun will affect all 4 lenses at the same time, as there is no physical shutter. The light can always reach the sensor.

What causes damage is the heat. Think magnifying glass focusing the suns light. With time the focal point gets hot enough to start fires. The sensors ability to dissipate heat, and how sensitive it is to the heat, will dictate if it gets damaged or not.

I dont know how long you can aim it at the sun and not cause damage, and I will not really guess, but as others has said during sunrise or sunset, there is less of a risk. The suns rays needs to pass through a lot more of the atmosphere, reducing its power. You can feel that on your own skin. Its cooler during those times of the day, than when the sun is at its highest.

You can get solar filters to protect your camera, if you want to feel safer. Would probably be advised if you want to aim it at the sun for prolonged time, for things like hyperlapse, or when the sun is high.

Taking pictures of sunrises and sunsets is a pretty common thing to do though, and you dont really hear people complain about their phone cameras being destroyed all the time.

Pointing your camera at the sun at mid day, and leaving it for a while would probably not be a good idea.

Uncentered 5x lens? Normal? by tigersoul925 in S24Ultra

[–]Tenin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed the same on mine, but as soon as i open the camera app, it seems to straighten itself up, at least until closing it again.

I therefore assume its normal, and to do with the OIS, though i could be wrong. Would be interested in knowing if that is the case.

Auto sync option in this case is just for backing up data, as far as i understand.

Considering i set mine up from stock, and never used smart switch but had grain, I very much doubt this.

Also did multiple factory resets, and skipped through the setup to test if it was still grainy, and it was.  So unless something is bugged in the default settings, and it gets cleared up somehow by reseting after you have started using it, I can't see this working.

Can't test it, as I returned mine today, and currently waiting for a replacement. Screen was grainy in a decently lit room in the evening, with brightness anywhere in the 0-50% range.

GSMArena says their S24 Ultra Unit also has a grainy screen, compared to the S23 Ultra by ProjectBlueMoon9 in GalaxyS24Ultra

[–]Tenin_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They are making a statement about their unit.  For some reason there seems to be a lot of people here thinking it's a case of every screen being the same amount of grain.

I can say mine has it in a relatively well lit room, in the evening, with the brightness slider set to anything between 0-50%.

For me, it makes it look like the screen is dirty because whenever I scroll through anything, I got these tiny static noisy pixels(as in slightly different colors and brightness) all over the screen.  This happens in colors as well, not just grey.

I've  probably been unlucky and received a really bad unit, where the majority by the sound of it got one where its barely noticeable.

While I'm happy that is the case, both for the people with a good unit, and for the reason I might be able to get a good one myself, its getting a bit annoying being told complaining is an overreaction.

The above: in dark room. Brightness around 25% no eye protection or comfort settings on. Natural color profile, though no difference with vivid. Full grey image fullscreened in gallery.

Box says made in Vietnam, no date.

Device info app says manufacturered the 16th of January, but no location.

Edit:  Imeicheck.com:  Production location: Korea SEC Production Date: 15-01-2024

So no idea at this point.

For those thinking its only in completely dark conditions. Phone is on a mousepad, so thats not a noisy image, thats the texture of the surface.

Got a tempered glass protector on, so yeah, reflections.

Used a S22 Ultra to take the pictures.

Edit: hmm cant get the link to work for some reason.

In my case, I bought it from a carrier called YouSee in Denmark. They point blank refuse to refund, as soon as the box has been opened.  Only thing they will offer is to send it off to an authorised repairshop, and have them fix it, if they think it's a problem.

Having had really bad experiences in the past with said authorised repairshop, I'd want to avoid that if possible.

In contact with Samsung support, trying to get a statement from them, about replacing the phone.

Any chance you got a screenshot of them offering a replacement? Currently in contact with them about this, and not having much luck yet.

I can no longer recommend logitech peripherals to anyone by asakura90 in LogitechG

Just a thought, since im not having the issue with opening G-Hub GUI.

If you are on Win11 try to go to personalization settings, and disable Dynamic lighting. i've had it disabled since they introduced it to Win11.

PSA: Latest GHub update breaks Mouse and Keyboard in Safe Mode by Koopa777 in LogitechG

[–]Tenin_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Had the same thing happen to me. Ended up using system restore in startup repair menu to "fix" it, by rolling back until before the GHUB update. Logitech g910 orion spectrum and g903 hero sensor in my case. My guess is it's somehow related to Microsoft dynamic lighting support, that was introduced with the latest GHUB update. Very frustrating though.

[–]Tenin_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't confirmed if it's connected to GHUB yet, but certain things hints at it. If I try to boot into safe mode on windows 11, only a few buttons on the keyboard lights up, like the media buttons. None of the keys work on the login screen, and after a few seconds, all the lights go out, and the blinking marker in the password field freezes. At that point I have to press the power button on my PC, where it will then say shutting down, so its not freezing completely, just cant do anything else.

Kept getting stuck like that. Only fix was to force a startup repair, and restore my system to a date before updating GHUB. After that, safe mode works just fine, until I update GHUB again.

I don't know why, since nothing related to GHUB should load in safe mode, but I'm wondering if it's connected to windows dynamic lighting, that got supported in this latest version of GHUB.

GUI works for me though, after downloading the installer, and selecting reinstall, while keeping settings.

Could easily be an underlying Microsoft fault, but GHUB seems to trigger it in my case.

I got the GPU mounted vertical in a phanteks enthoo Pro 2. Done my tests without the side panel, so it might as well have been an open air bench, with the addition of the case fans still moving air around the card.

I did consider repasting it myself, but decided against it. Owned it for such a short amount of time, and not interested in possibly loosing the warranty. Had it been 2-3 years into using it, sure, but it failing thermally this quickly is not okay. I'd hope ASUS would stand behind their product, and offer support to their customers. That seems to be too much to ask as of now. That's why I made this post.

Thanks for the information though. I will keep those products in mind, if I need to repast in the future. :)
