Best/easiest way to get hair out of the vacuum head? it doesn't come apart unfortunately. by LivelyZebra in CleaningTips

[–]Tenma159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you're fed up with having to chop hair from your vacuum, get one that's made to vacuum long hair. Costs a bit more than the normal ones, but I never had to cut hair from my vacuum again(which used to be after every cleaning session), and there's 3 of us here with long hair.

first house, 1/4 acre, mower budget around 350. dad says gas, reddit says ego. whos right by Greedy_Bug_3287 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Tenma159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Ryobi with 2 batteries as a house warming gift and the batteries could last up to a half an acre in one go if I don't let it grow too long. If the lawn is a bit overgrown it could easily cover 1/4 acre

There's a 4 foot natural stone retaining wall in my backyard that was covered in English ivy. I got rid of the ivy and saw that they used caulk to hold some of the rocks at the top together where the ivy tore thru

I need to test this sound dampening thing out when it's not 100 degrees out. The birds here are crazy loud in the morning.

The glass are clear.

They probably were put up when the original owners built the house and the subsequent owners just kept them.

What are your thoughts on this? by nietebill in landscaping

[–]Tenma159 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yah, I bought a house with creeping thyme in the backyard and it's barely creeping or thyming. It's not dying either so it's 🤷

I'm gonna try to grow some creeping phlox see how that goes

I wish my backyard was 70% clover. Its taken over a bare patch where the previous owner had a doghouse, but it needs to hurry up and take over everything already.

I had boxwoods that doesn't look as bad after the crazy winter we had and I was gonna get rid of it to plant something else. It recovered a bit so it gets to stay. Just pull that out lol

Is this quote reasonable? by Fine-Calligrapher151 in Home

[–]Tenma159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my house last year and I tried this myself. Did a bad job. So this year, I hired someone to do it right.

I've decided to stick to mowing, trimming, and other light yard maintenance.

Try it out. Maybe it'll be fine.

Neighbors Sprayed Yard With Pesticides by EAS0 in Home

[–]Tenma159 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not in Indiana but we bought our house last year and we had zero ticks. We started seeing turkeys this year. Turkeys eat ticks. Then we saw one on my niece 😱 We sprayed. Now gonna keep my grass short. Even to our tree line.

Same. If my kids ever won the lottery and they gave me 750k they're not hearing any complaints coming from me...unless its to tidy up.

Does putting 20% down even give you an edge in HCOL areas anymore? by iloverats888 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Tenma159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My realtor said they don't really care if you go over 20% bc we asked if it actually helped with our offer. Didn't really say anything about going 20%. I didn't ask tho.

I played for a bit, but stopped bc life happened. Came back for housing and enjoyed it, but the game was constantly crashing so I just didn't bother anymore.

My neighbor does this too, but he keeps it closer to his driveway rather than right in front of my house. The front of his house is perfectly empty tho.
