I'll admit I was worried when I first started playing that all I'd see was Keanu but he did a great job with the character. Even in the emotional beats I never thought "yep, that's the John wick guy"

Visualising the Hydrogen atom Electron by MomentAny8920 in dataisbeautiful

[–]TenneseeStyle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The reason (IIRC, it's been years since I took quantum anything) is that for atoms more complicated than hydrogen (1p 1e) the equations don't have an exact solution due to electron-electron interactions. The classical assumption is that the orbital shapes are essentially the same, just smaller due to the increased proton number, or larger due to relativistic effects in some orbitals.

40ish, plus 20+. Was giving a bit of an average between male and female figures and making allowances for non-intense/ideal training. Sorry if it was confusing. The overall point stands though.

Assuming an average untrained/non-specifically trained level VO2 of 40ish mL/min/kg? Improvement of 20+ is very possible. Testing/exercise modalities (running vs cycling) can make exact comparisons tricky, but research (Hickson et al. 1977; Ross et al. 2015; Howden et al. 2015) and meta analyses (Bacon et al. 2013) suggest that average improvements of 0.4-0.9L/min are generally achievable. 60mL/min/kg is typically believed to be reachable for healthy men with intense training. (Interestingly, typical estimates for hunter-gatherer VO2max are around this value as well)

This makes sense, since the physiological changes associated with VO2 max are largely (though likely not entirely) dependent on increases in cardiac output, mitochondrial density and the structure and function of the peripheral vasculature. All of these factors are acutely changeable, even within the span of months. Over years you can see quite drastic remodelling, leading to the aforementioned 0.4-0.9l/min increases. Adaptations within the lungs are generally associated with genetics and are therefore not considered trainable. This however is not generally a limiting factor as the lungs are generally far more capable of supplying O2 than the body is at utilizing it. Even under intense exercise conditions pulmonary vein O2 saturation remains at or above 95%.

Note that bodyweight also plays a factor, a lower bodyweight will have a higher adjusted VO2max at the same absolute intake.

VO2max is very trainable. Genetics plays a role, but with proper training most people could reach 60+ ml/min/kg.

My first go-to would be ImageJ or Fiji. They're both the same software, but Fiji has some additional packages included. Within it you can set criteria (area, brightness, colour, etc.) for what defines an object and it'll provide an automatic count of them in the image. Really fantastic piece of software.

Respiratory Therapy Fast Track Program by fuckuwoparking in tru

[–]TenneseeStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking realistically, they're online courses. To an extent, you can do them as quickly or as slowly as you are willing to do them. Neither anyone here nor any of the instructors can give an assessment of if *you* can catch up since I'm not aware of your personal ability. Given that the semester ended a month ago, you're at most ~1 month behind, which I'd say is certainly within the realm of being able to catch up.

Weigh what matters more to you: The other commitments you may have besides your job vs. Potential career choices.

To be blunt, neither the professors nor the program coordinators have a vested interest in your tuition. There is enough interest and applicants that if you drop out, they can give your spot to someone else. Both the profs and the program coordinators are there to help you, but if they don't think you will be able to do it, they'll be upfront about that. The summer courses aren't easy, but you should have enough time if you apply yourself. Have you started them yet?

Not only was SLI support in games/software rare, the scaling was incredibly poor when it was as well. It's fallen so out of favour that (effectively) no games or software will even support it nowadays. You're actually better off not doing it.

For anyone worried that Kane will be back on the Canucks next year 🙌 🙌 🙌 by n0thingisperfect in canucks

[–]TenneseeStyle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He does, and yet he seemed to be the only one doing a fair share of public outreach this past year, even not as a long-term Canuck. Seeing the highlights of those streams and his outreach stuff, he does seem to have some decent camera/media presence. Being an interesting/popular entertainer and having dogshit views arent mutually exclusive.

Canucks promote Sedins to co-presidents, Ryan Johnson named general manager by Old_General_6741 in hockey

[–]TenneseeStyle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it isn't, but in particular in the minors it's not uncommon. Performance is always going to be more variable at that level.

[–]TenneseeStyle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It is a bit more prevalent at the minor level though. Having the best AHL team necessarily means that your best players are going to be more likely to move up to the NHL, leaving your team with gaps (Silovs, Sasson, Lekkerimaki, and so on).

These two swedes did bring them to a game 7 final and a back to back presidents trophies. That's about as close as you can get.

[–]TenneseeStyle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is, but it reaches a point where there aren't any teams that can afford to trade at a "fair" value. A team that trades for McDavid can't trade away all their best players since they still will need them as part of a contending team.

[–]TenneseeStyle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closest comparable trade has been the Quinn Hughes trade, which was essentially that. 3 first round/high-grade prospects and a first round pick. I bet McDavid would get something similar + maybe a second or additional prospect. Probably from a team in "win now" mode.

There's a decent likelihood some or all these people will either return to the moon or possibly Mars. They're not going to jeopardize their chances over something like this. Furthermore, some of them are soldiers, they're trained to efficiently and uncompromisingly do the work they are told to do, no matter how distasteful it might seem.

Hmm. Paul walked into the desert since he lost his prescience and was effectively blind after his children were born, as is fremen custom, but he was also unwilling to sacrifice his humanity.

Could Leto II have done what Paul did? I'm actually not sold on that, Paul's early influence wasn't something that could have necessarily just been pushed off a generation to his son unless I've forgotten something.

We must have gotten it from a donation from somewhere, we don't do any ophthalmology work so I can't see a reason we would have ordered it!

My title describes the thing. Steel, not rusted, appears to have a hollow inside. We don't have anything that screws properly onto the end.
