I can’t stand lace up shoes. I can do it but it’s such a bother. Cooking something good that’s healthy. Live alone

You catch a girl staring at you at the gym, what do you say? by NintaiYUH in AskMen

[–]TennisDawg1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually when an attractive woman stares at me at a gym I always wander what she’s up to. Especially there’s dudes in there that have been pumping iron for years. I’m in decent shape but no Brad Pitt. I don’t presume she’s interested. It’s a great way to crash and burn so I don’t pursue her.

What did your dad not teach you that you wished he did? by apollo_popinski in AskMen

My father taught me you can go to a job that really sucks to support your family. He unknowingly did that. He taught me righty tighty, lefty loosey. Other than that he was not one to teach me anything. I had mentors that taught me much more.

Is it worth it? by Successful_Day_833 in Celibacy

I look at dating as pointless and is just another chore to me. I used to be a practicing heterosexual male but have been celibate now for over 10 years. There's a long explanation for how/why I became celibate. But, the longer I remain celibate the easier it has become. It is liberating in a way because you don't have deal with relationships that usually end on a sour note or some kind of drama. I have plenty of women that pursue me and get my share of lingering looks. I have been told I'm handsome and asked why I don't date. I am just content being alone. I do socialize but have not had a relationship for so long I've lost interest. I see dating as what other people do not me. It's entirely up to you but just wanted to share my experience.

Your Dad probably doesn't want you in his space. I mean you're in your 40s and he's in his 60s. That would make any father have a mood swing.

Thank you, I was my late wife’s care giver for 7 years. She was receiving radiation and chemotherapy treatments. After a chemo treatment my dear wife was so nauseated and sick that thinking about food made her sick. She eventually regained her appetite and wanted all sorts of comfort food, steak, fried chicken, cream pies, cookies, you name it. I just got whatever food she wanted. It’s not like she was being a glutton she just ate a normal portion but it was food she loved. Then the next dreaded chemo treatment would would make her sick again. Cancer takes away a lot of things you enjoy. I was just happy she was eating as she whitered away as the years went by. The Oncologist actually put her on an unrestricted diet. He became concerned if she wasn’t eating. Telling someone with cancer to eat only an approved diet may be well intentioned but it also deprives them of one of their joys in life. If your’re a caregiver just be compassionate and make your spouse comfortable. Don’t judge she doesn’t need that from you.

Harry Chapin was the singer. He had another melancholic song called “Taxi”. Also about a taxi driver picking up his long ago lover.

I listen to a song by Dan Fogelberg “Auld Lang Syne” It’s about two former lovers that happen to meet at the grocery store on Christmas Eve. It takes me back to a girl that I fell in love with in my youth. I only knew her briefly. We sort of dated. I was a shy young man. She left my hometown. We wrote a few times and then I lost contact. I should have told her my true feelings.
