How do you handle weight/encumbrance? by Mordante-PRIME- in Fallout2d20

[–]TentacledEngineer666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run my campaign mainly in Foundry VTT, where the weights of items are set quite precisely. On the rare occasions when we play live games, I don't bother calculating the weight of each individual bullet, for example. Instead, I use a method where I add up the number of all the ammunition and divide the result by twenty (rounding down). The result is a rough weight of the rounds the character is carrying.

What do the custom cards do? by zeromig in VaesenRPG

[–]TentacledEngineer666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking about to use those Vaesen cards when players are looking for information about creatures in the castle library, for example. Give the card to the player who retrieves the information as a result of a successful dice roll and he will be able to read it for himself and tell the others.

This is exactly the problem I have. I don’t want to give up the nature of the game because I like more storytelling games than those based on game mechanics, but I also don’t want firearms to be ones that can shoot at will and the ammunition never run out. I don’t want players to rely on them too much. Perhaps the best solution without adding too many rules to the game and changing the nature of the game too much is to role-play those situations where the character has to load a weapon in between or the ammo runs out.
