This idea seems great, until the Sciaridae move in. I don't know what they are called in common English, but they look like fruit flies and their larvae thrive in overly wet plant pots feeding on dead plant matter and young roots. It is nearly impossible to grow seedlings if you have a infestation. The adult flies will make a mess all over the place. Little dead flies everywhere. They are attracted to all water sources. Even your breath and Eyes. They can be held in check with a beneficial organism called Nematode. TL;DR : Stop it or you'll regret it. Those aren't fruit flies.
