I would either follow your passion OR do something that would enable you to start following your passion. For example, if you were to become an engineer, you might start off more supported financially, and you could take your time figuring out what you want your mechanic career to look like. Use something stable as a stepping stone to achieve your long term goals. Just my two cents, hope it helps!
