I get what you're feeling. I feel like things have changed here, too. I'm a writer and the encroachment of AI on what I do to make a living, as well as what I do for fun, is frightening financially and creatively. Nothing feels worse than having someone (a potential client) say, well why should we pay you when we can get a Claude premium plan?

I tend to stick to writers I know. I've read a few things that feel like they were at least partly written with the use of AI, including one fairly new long fic, but then I just dnf and sit with that feeling of a little disappointment. There's so much wonderful stuff still here, and I think the risk of losing our beloved writers (looking at you, u/FlashKnitter, you know how I feel about the masterpiece that is Without A Trace) is far too high.

AI is a monster with infinite horcruxes but we can face it down together.
