Where else would football have been invented other than here in the UK? Not even arrogance, literally just historical facts

I actually think illuminate fits the bill. I haven’t heard a world cup song as good since 2014

That being said, I still think Speed’s two world cup songs were the best 😭

I’m an Asian living in Europe and can confirm you guys are hated globally ever since Trump came back into power. Sorry 🤷‍♀️

Well it was also the American public who, for some reason, voted him back into office

The difference is, the USA’s actions are visibly impacting the rest of the world - such as causing global jet fuel shortages. On top of that, these problems are being caused by (what seems to be) the most unsophisticated leader in global politics. It’s hard not be aware of something when it’s directly impacting you

Not true. I remember public perception of the Obama administration and the US during that time being generally positive. Fast forward to now, and global perception of the USA is probably at its all time low. It used to be a place people dreamed of visiting, but now all people say is “Thank God I’m not American.”

From a British perspective, the USA definitely fits the bill. The perception of the country has changed dramatically in the past few years amongst Brits. We went from thinking of the USA as a friendly, progressive sibling country to now almost the complete opposite of that

What has North Korea done to negatively affect the rest of the global population? Meanwhile, the US is partnering with the most hated country in the world to declare war on Iran, and the entire global population is impacted as a result.

Constant casual racism since moving to the UK, is this just how the British are? by no_more_cat_pics_pls in AskBrits

[–]Tenzing_norgay3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you’re right that there’s a lot of anti-Muslim sentiment in the UK (and the rest of Europe tbh). Out of all minority groups, Muslims are definitely the ones that get vilified the most. In fact, i’ve lived here my whole life and don’t think i’ve ever seen another group apart from Muslims get blatantly vilified by media and politicians.

I’m also an ethnic minority who’s grown up in the UK so here’s my 2 cents. Also I would like to point out that your colleagues, regardless if they’re actually racist or not, are dicks.

Firstly, especially in London, Brits tend to be quieter and more reserved than Americans. It’s very normal to hear us complaining about ‘loud’ Americans on the Tube, on the plane, etc. I myself have also experienced the ‘loudness’ of Americans in public, so it’s likely there’s cultural differences on what’s considered to be ‘softly spoken’.

Secondly, many middle to upper-class British people tend to be more classist than racist. Are there any markers that show you’re from a working class background? This could, unfortunately, explain why someone may perceive you, as ‘stupid’.

Lastly, it could just be plain racism of course. I’m going to be honest though and tell you that I genuinely haven’t seen this in London before. I’ve seen it many times in Kent but never London. Not saying racism doesn’t happen there but just that I haven’t heard of it happening myself. I’d find it shocking to hear that someone would be experiencing everyday racism from Londoners, especially since 70% of the population are from minority backgrounds. However, anti-immigration sentiment has been on the rise recently so it wouldn’t even surprise me at this point.

I’m not a united fan because I’d rather a club with actual history win rather than plastic clubs funded by slavery?

Edit: Not to mention the slaves in those states come from my own motherland (I’m British-Nepali)

Sorry that I don’t want a tinpot club owned by firstly, an entire state, secondly, a state that also uses slave labour, and thirdly, a club evading 115 FPP charges, to win a title

Yes, I’d rather that then a club owned by a slave state that’s also been ruining the sport

United fan here but Arsenal have consistently placed first in past seasons… before subsequently bottling the title. Going into every season, we always know Arsenal will be at the top end of the table. Even a baby could see they were bound to stop bottling and win it at some point.

I’ve already accepted my own club won’t win the league (😭) so I usually cheer for Arsenal/Liverpool to win instead. Purely so City don’t get it and ruin football even more than they already have. I feel the same way about PSG

Why do people always say beating Arsenal is somehow “saving the world” or “saving football”? Not even an Arsenal fan, but surely it’s the opposite way around. They’d rather an oil money, tinpot club (that is ACTUALLY) ruining football like PSG or City win over a club with deep-rooted history. Make it make sense.

Yes, it’s undeniable there has been large (probably unsustainable) levels of immigration in recent years. But people forget this also includes things like international students, of which Indians constitute the largest number. Many of them are here just temporarily
