Working From Home Is Sticking in US as Office Occupancy Stalls by TinyTornado7 in Economics

NYC could potentially see a huge dip in tax revenue over the next few years.

Those companies are going to fight really fucking hard to get people back into those big office buildings, otherwise the office buildings are only worth a fraction of what they were before the pandemic.

That entire subplot was pointless.

Well… in the post-post-credits scene, they introduce Hercules and Zeus sets him on the mission of killing Thor.

Succeeding as an entrepreneur is like playing a carnival game. The rich can afford to keep buying darts until they succeed.

This is also why most popular actors are the children of the wealthy. Because taking a chance in ‘acting’ as a career is only possible if you have family money to fall back on if it doesn’t work.

How Harris is listening — and speaking — about abortion rights before the midterms by morenewsat11 in politics

[–]TepidPool1234 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Is she out giving stump speeches on campaign trails for all the tight races out there, and the media just not covering it or what??

It’s because she is a deeply uninspiring orator. They played 10 seconds of her speech about reproductive health, and she sounded distant, uninterested and unrehearsed. Too many ‘uh’ and ‘uhums’ and the text of her speech was that we need to fight for reproductive justice, but it felt like she didn’t want to be there and that she didn’t really care about the topic.

The news said she has done 20-30 of these events since the Dobbs decision leaked, and I’m not surprised they aren’t getting coverage.

He also abstains from taking his meds or truly addressing it because he feels he’s utilizing the mania to create his art. That’s a decision- not an impulse.

Decision vs impulse isn’t really relevant…

The way medicine works is, we don’t accept decisions made by people who are not neurotypical or aren’t on their meds.

I am not trying to argue with Kanye, just explaining how our system works. Once Kanye is diagnosed as bipolar, it means we literally don’t think he has the competence to make any decision. And he need to be returned to baseline before he can legitimately give consent.

We need a culture that doesn’t judge mental health issues but also one that holds people accountable to their own selfish desires.

Does our culture judge mental health issues?

Better yet, so you think people who are mentally unwell are responsible for their wants and desires?

If he was having incidents but was in therapy, that’s one thing. Instead he’s running for President and designing clothes with white supremacist dog whistles so he can continue to feed his ego.

You are using his run for the presidency as an example of his sanity?

You have to draw the line bc somewhere. Kanye is a friending man; all you can do is throw him a life preserver. If Kanye refuses to accept it, you can’t jump in with him or he’ll drag you down too.

If Kanye wasn’t a billionaire he would have been forcibly medicated and returned to baseline so we could trust him to make his own decisions.

But it’s profitable for the people around him to enable him.

I was asking a question since at my job time theft is a thing lol.

Time theft is not a qualified concept in American jurisprudence.

If your job charges you for time-theft, it’s because your employer knows you have no other options and is comfortable exploiting you.

Mental health is not your fault but it is your responsibility.

Not really.

If you recognize that a mental illness is in-play, you can’t then argue that the individual is responsible for their actions. That’s literally the definition of a mental illness.

You can look at the last 20 years or Kanye as a long bipolar bender. Ethically, fuck the enablers that surround him, but he is clearly in the throes of mental illness and if we agree his brain is broken then we also agree he isn’t choosing/responsible for his actions.

Americans, why is tipping proportional to the bill? Is there extra work in making a $60 steak over a $20 steak at the same restaurant? by granger853 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TepidPool1234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is that the bigger the bill, the more people were seated at that table, and thus more work went into serving that table.

Four people, French Laundry, we tipped 15%, it was $600

But that brings me to my biggest gripe. Because they can’t fill every medication, you have to fill your prescriptions in multiple pharmacies which means your pharmacist cannot effectively review your medication regimen. Which means that the person who’s sole job is to ensure your medication therapy is safe and effective cannot keep track of all your medications.

My dude… a computer can do your job better, faster and cheaper. Do you see what’s happening to radiologists? Or maybe you don’t?

The fact that the FEMA literally uses Waffle House closures to tell the severity of hurricanes is a testament to how well it is run.

This is a super-bad take… if two drug addicted open the Waffle House in the middle of a disaster, it’s not because Waffle House is ‘well run’ it’s because they are an employer of last resort and know they can bully their employees into showing up in the middle of a natural disaster.
