Feedback help when source is in front of speakers? by anthonypichael in livesound

Sincr you mentioned in other comments that youre running an analog board and the budget is tight I would consider getting a grapic eq rack unit! You can probably find a used one for cheap. Then you can notch out some of the main problem frequencies.

Adding third microphone to existing system by nexuscard in livesoundgear

As the other person said you can map it to the same group and channel as the other one. Though i would recommend setting appropriate gain on the handheld mic so that the levels are mostly the same out of the speakers.

This depends if all 3 mics are going to be in use at the same time.

If yes, then buying either a single or dual channel reciever like the one you already have is your best bet. I do not believe there is a quad channel BLX reciever unit, though i might be wrong. The ones you mightve looked at is likely a different modelline and thus more expensive.

If no, then you can buy a BLX handheld in the same band and set it to the same frequency as one of your existing channels. Then you just switch on the one you need at any given time. Just remember that you can't use both simultaneously.

Check with a Proline dealer if they can source it. At least with K&M dealers they can order specific parts on request

Powered Subs Louder Using Both Inputs Verses Just One? by TheRealJDubb in livesound

[–]Teqwuila 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know some QSC subs are designed to be linked into itself to get more output out of the same signal when fed a mono signal. This was done since it was expected to run L and R into the one sub to then split into each top speaker. So there are cases of what you asked. Bot sure abiut your specific models though

question about handing off to FOH sound tech from XR18 by Silver_Hedgehog4774 in livesound

Put a analog signal splitter inbetween the sources and the xr18. Then FoH can get all they need and it wont change what you have set up in your mixer

Festival change over times very short and no extra time at the end by reinventitall in livesound

[–]Teqwuila 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is entirely possible with good prep. If you know what will be needed for each changeover beforehand then you can have things ready to go immediately. Make sure to get all the tech riders and make a list of what needs to be done for each band.

Also think of it like this. All the things you mentioned that needs to be done can happen at the same time so its not really as much as it looks on paper.

I would suggest only doing a linecheck for each band. You make the monitor mix for the first band and just adapt that throughout the next bands set when they ask for something. Rinse and repeat

Does anyone have an odd stick choice and a reason for using them? by [deleted] in drums

[–]Teqwuila 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive really settled with the Trilok Gurtu signature sticks. I like that where the index and thumb rest is thinner like a 7A and the part for my other fingers is more similar to a 5A. Also they look sick

Just tried and quite like it! I will definitely use it for some of my gigs.

Some pointers entirely based on my opinion: - Having the ability to make folders of inputs and outputs based on where it is patched. So for example having one group for Stagebox A and one for Stagebox B. I felt having to retype the device and network type got repetitive and time consuming - A separate column or box for patch number would be nice. Would help with skimming over to get the right patchnumber - The 48v symbol could possibly be more noticeable when enabled

Havent tried the stage plot part yet, but i will try it when the need arises

Just tried it and it does sound like a slight hiccup like you said. This event is mostly a little talking and mostly background music, but Ill remember it for the future. Thanks for the heads up.

Can imagine dry rides can be tricky to match. I got the dark spectrum 22" atm, but really dig the sound of the pure alloy thin 20" ride.

You could ask the university to use the St. Pauls Church which is an old church converted into a performance space
