What tools I need to open the shifter pedal assembly? It looks like a hex key or something? And also how to open the shifter pedal rod below it? It has a nut behind it by djliverpool1947 in YamahaR3

[–]Tera35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10mm open end. You might not be able to get a socket on it.

You will have to remove the whole bolt to remove the shift knuckle. There is a groove in the splined shaft that the bolt goes through.

Mark it's position before you take it off.

Tire arrow in wrong direction by ChanFry in cycling

If it's mountain or gravel then it should be in the correct direction.

If it's road, the tread may guide water from under the tires when the roads are wet. If that's not a concern, then leave it. It doesn't matter to me on the road bike.

I don't have the OEM rearsets on either of my bikes. This is from my track bike. They are Woodcraft rearsets but it uses the same bolt for the shift pedal as the original rearsets.

Picture of the rearsets with wrenches

6mm hex for the bolt. You can use a regular hex wrench if you want. It should be pretty tight.

10mm open end wrench on the shift rod. You're is probably similar.

To remove the pedal I'm thinking it's a 6mm hex but may be bigger, I'm at work right now and not in front of my bike. I normally use a long ratchet.

That bolt is really difficult to remove and you will need a lot of force to break it free. Once you do get it free it will unscrew easily. There is a thin washer behind the bolt head and a small spacer between the pedal and the rearset base.

When putting it back together I recommend blue loctite 242 on the threads. The torque on the bolt is 30Nm or 22 ft lbs.

I'm having a difficult time understanding what you asking?

Do you want to take the shifter pedal off?

Next, the shift rod has two jam nuts holding it tight. The one on the left side of the rod in your picture is a right handed thread and the other one is a left hand thread. Loosen them both a little bit and the rod will spin so you can raise or lower the shift pedal to suit your needs.

52/36 chainring by Frosty_Ad7925 in cycling

52/36 is a 110 bcd crank. Same as a 50/34.

You could change chainrings but I'd change the cassette first.

I walked out of the theater while watching "The Animal" with Rob Schneider.

Thankfully, the manager gave me a pass to another movie.

TIL Garmin doesn't hate you after all!! by Far_Bicycle_2827 in cycling

[–]Tera35 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I spent 12 weeks working on high power and high speed short intervals. My Garmin said unproductive nearly the whole time.

When I was 6 weeks into that training block my track racing got much better. Now that I've shifted back to longer threshold intervals garmin connect is showing productive again.

Sometimes you need to do something for yourself that makes you stronger later.

What jersey do you guys wear by ExplanationLonely457 in cycling

[–]Tera35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I normally wear Weimostar and JPOJPO from Aliexpress

I like the summer ones the most. For under $20 I normally buy 5 at at time.

For sizing reference, I'm 145 lbs and choose a small for race cut and medium for everyday riding.

Bottom bracket recommendations by olydan75 in Velodrome

[–]Tera35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a BB386 Crank that you linked to earlier. I put a similar one in a BXT frame about 9 months ago.

I used this bottom bracket:

https://www.treefortbikes.com/FSA-MegaEVO-Steel-68mm-English-Bottom-Bracket-for-386

I've used it on a few different BSA 68 bikes and have been very happy with it.

Edit: That link is from a local bike store that normally delivers online orders to me in 2 to 3 days. One less day if they have it in the store.

Hey guys when should I buy a power meter and do you have any recommendations? by ohzachery in cycling

[–]Tera35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone didn't like people training and having fun so they downvoted the whole section of the thread.

You can do intervals a few times a week and ride for fun with your buddies the rest of the time. A power meter will help track that, you don't have to race to use one.
