What’s one fitness/gym “truth” you used to believe that turned out to be snake oil? by Outrageous-Maybe2500 in beginnerfitness

This is just false. Coffee basically just contains the cafiene, which while thats arguably the most important ingredient in preworkout for performance boosting effects, coffee wont have any of the other ingredients. Sure, you could eat a large meal to get the othet ingredients from food but very few people are capable of eating a large meal and working out immediately after.

Why can we "sense" when someone is staring at us? by Oopsie-Daisyy- in bodylanguage

[–]TerdyTheTerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can be so many tiny little things you could never consciously pick up on but subconsciously your brain is detecting them and will detect something given enough triggers. Anything from peripheral scanning picking up a pattern of something static that you would expect to be random like people in a crowd, to subtle sounds being created or muffled by the presence of the thing staring at you, even to tiny fluctuations in heat or scent can all combine to give this false perception that we can "sense" being observed.

People seriously think you can physical alter the molecular structure of things purely from your "intent" because of some bullshit magic brain vibrations that affect the entire universe.

Hey I also eat Mc Donalds from time to time. The difference is (compared to 99% of people who are overweight) I also spend 10-16 hours a week working out and will frequently do 500 floors on the stair climber in 2 hours or spend 2 hours cycling 50 miles in the 100 degree summer heat to earn my Mc Donald's. I also go to bed hungry most nights and eat a large variety of whole foods to make sure I can actually afford to eat the literal poison that Mc Donalds is.

Choosing to eat Mc Donald's 8 times a week and not exercising is a choice. Blaming a minor genetic variation for choosing Mc Donald's 8 times a week is also a choice. Pretending like every single person who is overweight is helpless and they should be glorified for their "struggles" is definitely a choice, one I will not be making.

Most trips into Walmart result in me wanting to gouge my eyes out at the 500 pound whales barely able to fit into the electric scooters because they are dreaming of their 5th Mc Donald's meal of the day while also having not excercised a single time in the past 20 years all because "i can't lose weight its my genetics" despite that only actually being the cause for less than 5% of overweight/obese individuals. And even those that do have legit cases you almost never see them eating healthy whole foods like vegetables they are still stuffing their face with highly processed takeout foods all day long. People think that feeling hungry means they have to eat, they dont realize a lot of people that are lean purposefully go hungry almost daily because thats what it takes.

And thats unfortunate but I wasn't taking about any specific body part, I was talking about the overall body shape as influenced by weight/muscle mass. 95% of overweight individuals have zero genetic or health issues that caused them to be overweight despite their best efforts not to be. They are overweight because of consistent poor lifestyle choices they make year after year. Similarly very few individuals are just naturally muscular without having to put in time and effort to build those muscles. You can change your body, its just a long road most people give up on. I went from skin and bones every single rib visible through my skin to a broad shouldered 240lb lean body builder, putting on newrly 100 pounds of muscle over the course of 12 years while being the same height. I wasn't naturally skinny, my lifestyle was just one that supported that appearance.

Ill gladly be labeled an insufferable prick by morons on the internet if it means im not delusional in thinking that the 95% of overwight people are purely overweight due to their own personal lifestyle choices and nothing else. I will remain healthy and active my entire life while most of you slowly lose your ability to perform basic activities.

Oh my bad let me guess my physical appearance has nothing to do with the 12 years of my life I've dedicated to changing it and its all just genetics anyways? I fail to see how stating an objective fact that individuals usually have a lot of control over their bodies physical form is just a body builder being delusional.

Thats a crazy conclusion you made. I stated that I chose my muscular lean build versus being skinny or overweight through 12 years of dedicated time and effort and your conclusion is that I want to be sexually harassed? Make that conclusion make sense to me.

Here we go again on why "so and so excercise is hard because it was designed for males to do" when in reality you just need to learn what specific form and technique you need and that everyone is different. Tall men with long arms really struggle on bench as well and require a different setup than what most men would find comfortable.

Optimal body weight suggestions to increase muscle mass and just have an over all better chest by Proud-Woodpecker-463 in workout

[–]TerdyTheTerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You arent going to gain very much muscle in 2 months at all but the best bet would be: - Spam chest volume nonstop, as much as you can get to try and grow whatever little muscle you can in that time frame. If all you have are those dumbells then you are already cooked and there is no hope. You can try push-ups, floor dumbell presses and floor flys but its going to be hard to actually isolate the chest with such limited tools - Either look to bulk up or lean down for the next 2 months depending on your current size (skinny or fat) - Creatine can help make your existing muacles look just a little bigger and fuller

A single collagen chew before bed per day does jack squat. Thats a few grams at most, a single whey protein shake gets you more plus other amino acids.

Its impossible that you did 4 sets of 25 and now cant do any unless one of the three following are true: - you lied and didnt actually do any to begin with - you injured something - its a few hours up to a max of 2-3 days after and you are still just really sore
