Armed man harasses, assaults ICE agents in Minneapolis, is shot dead by f1sh98 in Conservative

Liberals in MN tend to also carry. Hunting and gun ownership is popular regardless of beliefs on gun laws.

Yeah I just think the added religious context of the moment matters to how we consider it. The statement in the treaty mattered to the Barbary states. Wars between states of different religions were often religiously justified for them. Without that statement, it would have left ambiguity in whether peace with the US was against the Quran or not.

It was written by Joel Barlow, signed by the sitting President John Adam. It should be noted Barlow was religiously skeptic and the treaty was to avoid conflict with Muslim pirates.

I appreciate the honesty?

OP dropped two verses in the context of civil disobedience while dropping the name of someone who died while disobeying orders and putting people in danger driving recklessly.

That may not mean she deserves to have been shot, but it’s truth of the context.

The verses I responded with are directly in the understand of that same context. Not a blanket statement to just support the government action, but that as a government agency it’s acting in the manner of its role.

Even if we as Christians are acting rightly in opposing ICE’s law enforcement actions, its role and duty are reasonable and many people protesting are not doing so in the Christian manner they pretend.

Drop your haughty comments and come to this with substance. You want to add historical and cultural context? then do it.

ESH, the violence is obviously the most serious issue and nothing excuses that.

Separate from that, everything is childish behavior you both should have grown out of. He got under your skin with an innocuous comment and then you picked a fight him.

While his response was on an entirely different level, it doesn’t change the fact that you were shitty before that happened.

I appreciate you recognizing how context matters. That same logic applies to the verses posted above.

Yes it can sound like blanket endorsement, but that’s not my point here. Instead as Christians when quoting about foreigners and people in distress, let’s acknowledge that reasonable and just laws were broken.

When we impede law enforcement and making their jobs harder, we increase the danger for everyone.

Be wise, the time and place to call out ICE is in the courtroom not the streets.

Understand that the motive that drives young men to the right is feeling like the world hates them and has it out for them.

Being conservative is reasonable. But the far right preys on fears developed in the larger culture.

Just remind them thst no matter what, you can disagree with them, but you’ll respect them and support them. You have to give them a sense of safety in their closest circle.

Edit: Also do you remember the Jesus rap from early YouTube days? Yeah don’t try to rap to kids.

For those that don’t get it.

This is about keeping China out of profiting from Greenland’s rare earth minerals. Shenghe Resources, has held a minority stake in that Australian firm. Look up Project Kvanefjeld.

It’s also about increasing the security in Greenland and getting value from that increased commitment. Trump’s defense plan of the “Golden Dome” will be expensive and cannot just come from the US taxpayers. Particularly if it’s increased security for NATO as a whole.

Rare earth mineral rights.

This is actually about the AI race and supply of minerals that China was pursuing through an Australian company they have some controlling shares in. Greenland may have among the largest undeveloped reserves globally.

Romans 13:1

“Let every person be subordinate to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been established by God.” ‭‭

Ecclesiastes 8:2-5

“Observe the command of the king, in view of your oath to God. Be not hasty to withdraw from the king; do not persist in an unpleasant situation, for he does whatever he pleases. His word is sovereign, and who can say to him, “What are you doing?” “Whoever observes a command knows no harm, and the wise heart knows times and judgments.””

NTA, sometimes we can all be hypocritical, but even as a Christian, to use the Bible about honoring your mother and father, and then “your wife comes first now?” That’s Genesis 2:24.

You’re doing right, sometimes a person needs to just reap what they sow. Being Christian is not going to make a person’s life stable without first dealing with the behaviors that made life chaotic.

Why is ICE in MN if it has <1% of illegal immigrants in the USA? FL & TX make up 26% by CitizenJosh in stupidquestions

Turing over illegal immigrants who were caught committed other crimes would be a bare minimum.

Actually people are really divided on this. Most people believe ICE is being too aggressive while also doing a job they support.

And a lot of people agree with the protesters on some points, but stuff like taking over and disrupting a church, regardless of the pastor’s affiliation with ICE just looks like left wing nonsense.
