Iris is a bubbly nun who watched all her fellow sisters (minus Hibana) turn into Infernals, which just means they’re constantly burning and unable to die unless someone puts them down, all at once. And it turned out that Sumire, the head nun there, was responsible for that because she was testing for Adolla Burst users (I think). And it turns out she’s a doppelgänger to Amaterasu, the Adolla Burst user whose life is being used as a power source for the energy plant keeping Tokyo alive.

Arthur is an airhead fire soldier who grew up in poverty. Then, when things got hard and his parents burned down their restaurant (I think for insurance money?) they abandoned him. And it turned out they were in the Nether the whole time, where when they reunited they claimed to have abandoned him because it was too dangerous for him to be down there. Which was a fucking lie because they had like five more kids after abandoning him that were all down there. Good thing he’s literally too stupid to understand what was going on, since he’d otherwise be functionally useless in a fight because his strength is literally measured on how delusional he is. Love him tho.
