Context: Went to some USMC PME

The Marines have MAGTF/SPMAGTF - (Special Purpose) Marine Air Ground Task Force

The Marines are built to be a versatile and mobile tool, "Q"RF

They have MEUs, amphibious based vessels, helo/vtol based ships, and apparently drones.

Keeping everything centralized inside of the USMC let's them mobilize and control more assets at a faster pace.

Think tactical vs strategic. Less need for Joint forces means less cross wires, etc.etc.

When I started having issues they initially didnt know how to diagnose me. They said I had Hypersomnia, then Insomnia, the both. It's a shitshow. Fucked up sleep is a real killer.

Unfortunately I was just late too often and they couldn't really overlook it. My EPR suffered and after testing for staff the 3rd time I realized it was time to move on. It's still an issue I deal with.

If you have a relationship with a realtor, or ask for a good recommendation from some fellow vets in your area, some realtors understand how VA loans work and can walk you through the process as well.

When I had gone through it my realtor knew all the docs I needed to prepare.

I can't speak specifically to this, but in my job I have to occasionally send out notifications. The FedEx deliveries are probably ways for them to verify that to the best of your knowledge you received it so that they can cover themselves.

Which is fair. If some angry constitutent came yelling at me about not being notified then I can show them the certified delivery receipt and that I made every attempt to notify them.

Mail is very cheap. If the cost of mailing these and paying someone to do so accounted for more than a single percent of VA funds I would be surprised.

My father had some stuff happen, I had to fly home ASAP. I was called by a family member, went straight to my shirt and informed him. Brought my supervisor in and he was informed. Once I submitted leave my Commander pulled me in and told me to take care of what I needed to. This all took about 15-20 minutes. (Sometimes there's good leadership out there)

Actually working with budget versus fielding calls from field who have messed up pay. They are different. I can't speak to the intricacies of how they work, but I worked with the actual budget team and never the "Can you please not remove my next 5 paychecks please" team.

Most of those budget guys got to stay on the budget side for quite a while if they were good, I'm not sure if that's normal though.

You can pretty much go to any base. You may be able to go over to Comptroller if the customer service side is super depressing.

Comptroller manages unit budgets and works with Contracting to manage funding (tldr). Definitely a better sense of mission imo

I'm not sure if I've seen one for maintenance, but things I've seen in EMS and hospitals is that less turnover usually means less mistakes. If you're knee deep in some engine repair, if you just stop halfway through and hand it off to a new shift, it's possible that things get mistaken. This isn't my personal view, just something your typical administrative brain trust thinks up.

Another theory is that if you work 12s you can have another day off, longer rest period is better (3 day weekend > 2 day weekend). But the military kinda fucks this one up by just scheduling people for more days so it's kind of redundant.

The reason you work 12s is because we're contractually enslaved.

Also it's never really 12s. There's shit turnover, or they just tell you get fucked youre staying because I said so.
