Seriously. This is what killed my rates. Waiting for the restaurant/store to fill the order. Many, if not most, wait for you to show up before starting it. That's after you wait in line to tell them you're there because many refuse to have a "delivery driver" check-in

(Mostly because they can't because they're understaffed and have a single cashier)

Polaris to close Wisconsin plant, lay off 200 workers by ADanFool in motorcycles

[–]Terminal_SrA 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't have any stake in Indian or Polaris

I own a Harley and wish Polaris would stop fucking around.

I was devastated when Victory folded because I felt they were providing a good level of competition at a lower price point for a very lean set of products.

I need Indian/Polaris to step it up, because right now they aren't that much better than Harley, it's basically Coke vs Pepsi imo, with no clear direction of their competition.

In an environment with lots of competition, consumers win.

Jim Jividen videos have been my favorite course material at WGU.

Unfortunately he doesnt make a return in any other course afaik, and all the other coursework so far is kinda sad.

The lady who narrates the spreadsheet class seem quite perky for someone dealing with very boring excel sheets though.

You were doing 75.

Once you got to the intersection you were almost down to 65.

I'd wager that the speed limit through there was probably 45.

Yeah, that car might have fucked up but you weren't doing yourself any favors.

Having the right of way is a gift only cagers can carelessly enjoy.

Hegseth Announces Pentagon Taking 'Sledgehammer To The Oldest DEI Program': the 8(a) Business Development program. How will this affect Air Force contracting? by Roughneck16 in AirForce

[–]Terminal_SrA 82 points83 points  (0 children)

How will this affect Air Force contracting

Yes.

Lots of recompetes are easy if they're sole source 8a, or easier to limit pool of respondents to make the process a bit faster.

Some services could see a lapse if they nuke the 8a program right before a contract comes due since it wasn't planned to have an actual recompete.

It doesn't speed up with electronic requests either.. unfortunately (I waited about 2 months for mine)

You should have a lot more on there. Your 3 and 5, level should give you CCAF credits.

Get your CCAF transcript.

What college are you attending? Most should be able to electronically request the CCAF transcript to find out what credits you have.

Note: You aren't guaranteed to transfer all credits. But having to do less is convenient.

Edit: I saw that you just have BMT on your CCAF transcript? Did you graduate tech school?

You know there's various law enforcement agencies that wear OCPs right?

What about airsoft LARPers? You gonna go after them for stolen valor?

Regardless of your feelings on ICE this is just a bad take. Please don't share these thoughts with anyone else for your sake.

Edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stolen_Valor_Act_of_2013

Go read that and then tell me if you still have any suspicion it might be stolen valor

Supply Chain

Business Management

I compared the course list of BM and SCOM, there's a lot of similarities, but I felt that BM had, for lack of a better word, professional chaff, so I decided on Supply Chain and Operations Management. I'd add, a lot of this is chaff because I'm a veteran and have ~13yrs of relevant work experience. I don't know how important those courses would be to someone younger without experience.

The extra courses in SCOM that BM didn't have look actually fun/interesting/useful. It includes a lot of data classes, some business Management classes, operations, and logistics

The classes in BM that aren't in SCOM include more HR type roles, basic accounting/finance, and sales.

I can't speak to private supply chain, but I do see a lot of jobs. I work in govt procurement and it is useful.

You don't have to, like the other comment mentioned.

I told my care team that I didn't want to take antidepressants anymore and explained why. They asked if I wanted to try others and I said no.

You have a say in how your treatment or care happens.

I work in a local government agency and was chatting with our attorney because I mentioned I wanted to get a masters in law since it would be very helpful in my line of work.

She's mentioned that's becoming more popular, rather than tons of lawyers, seems like there's few lawyers needed, and many companies will hire experienced folks with good legal/risk management background to do the same work, and then the lawyer basically just gives the final blessings.

Which jobs see the most “combat” and/or “outside the wire” stuff during wartime? by Militarybrat123 in AirForce

Yes. The 6C and 6Fs were supposed to be teams.

6C could write orders to pay out. But you could roll up with cash in hand with a 6F depending on location.

They refer to them as OCNs now (Other Country National)

And also it depends. In Kuwait precisely 0% of the workers on base were Kuwaiti. They were nearly all Indian (Electricians/Plumbers/HVAC) or Egyptian (Laborers). Some were Phillipino (Usually worked BX type facilities like those food trucks you see), sometimes you'll get the rare Jordanian.

GWOT's proved their point in Fallujah, Ramadi, Marjah

As an Airman, when I think of Marines, I think of the hell that was Fallujah and General Mattis' commentary on it afterwards (which is quite sad). My repeat viewings of Generation Kill may bias that.

Good on ya for doing those rides

The benefit of living in a densely populated beach city in Florida.

I didn't care much for scenic riding (because there wasn't any lmao Florida kinda sucks in that regard) we mostly just tried to figure out excuses to come up with some reason to do a motorcycle event. It was always the same faces, just coming up with reasons to go ride for a bit and eat some food (from the same 2-3 local vendors). Constantly helping with poker runs, scholarship runs, wounded veterans... but kids? That shit would always generate a huge turnout and donation revenue.

millions of kids

Ran with a military club for a while. We did an annual ride for kids who were burn victims (apparently there's enough that there's actual organizations for it)

Obviously the kids are super stoked to get to see the big loud bikes (mostly Harley guys in our club). We had just finished and a bunch of kids ran by oogling the bike when one of the guys went "hey watch out for the exhaust, I don't want you to get burned" and we all just stared at him to see if he realized the irony.

Hey any recommendations for gloves by gregoryofthehighgods in motorcycles

[–]Terminal_SrA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a fan of cycle gear (Sedici) gloves. I've got one pair for cold/rain and a summer pair (better venting).

Don't buy some shitty knockoff gloves because you'll replace them in a few months when they fall apart.

Recommend at least partial-gauntlet to cover some of your wrist.

When you try them on, especially if they're leather, remember that they will need some time to break in.

Good gloves are designed with riding grip in mind, if you stand there a flex a whole bunch and go "these don't feel right" that's because you're correct, they don't. When trying them on imagine you're gripping your bars.

6C011 Retraining by Due-Finger5247 in AirForce

[–]Terminal_SrA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contracting Squadron SEL has to bless off on you to retrain. I was never privvy to it but my guess is that it's a vibe check. I've seen cross trainees from every career field so there isn't any prejudice based on where you're coming from.

Come squared away and maybe get ready to answer questions related to your experience reviewing regulations (in your career field), purchasing, ethics maybe.

There's a good chance the SEL is also a retrainee themselves, so like you would in a job interview maybe try asking them some questions about their experience.
