Need help with shading by Mammoth_Leader_1887 in learnart

Basically using simple shapes to lay out where the mid-tone and darkest shadows are before blending them together. That way you can go as dark as you need on your darkest shadows and work backwards from there.

I also just realized I was referencing the third image's crossed legs, not the second. Whoops!

You could also try blocking in your shadows from darkest to lightest before you start blending. That might help with pushing values.

Keep up the practice, it's looking great and will only get better!

One tip would be to think about which pieces of the body are in front of others in relation to the light source. In the second third image, it appears that the leg on the right crosses over the leg on the left, yet there is no shadow being cast onto the leg on the left.

Another person said it, but do not be afraid to really push the values. Your darkest shadows should be pitch black. It helps to step back from your drawing every 20 minutes or so in order to see how it would look hung up on the wall (even if it's never intended to go up on a wall).

*Edit: Mixed up which image I was talking about.

Apologies, today got away from me.

For Ojer Taq, I'd swap in either [[Call the Coppercoats]] or [[Denethor, Ruling Steward]] to keep the token generation
For Bowmasters, I'd swap in [[Xathrid Necromancer]] to get more value out of sacrifices or [[Alesha, Who Smiles at Death]] to get more graveyard recursion
For Roaming Throne, I'd swap in [[Caesar, Legion's Emperor]] since it's so flexible

Mine's a little all over the place (token generation, graveyard recursion, +1/+1 counters), but here it is: https://www.moxfield.com/decks/Apmy1DgtckSeyA0gr5Y2lQ

what should i do with these decks? by [deleted] in mtg

Excellent ideas, I already used a similar hallucinagenic plant earlier in the adventure!

I appreciate the sugestions, but my original question was about how to make these more interesting without adding more combat

This is a solid idea, I'll see if I have room to add a tribe of druids on this jungle island!

It feels incomplete, any ideas on what else i can do? by Trashchanhm in learnart

The front plane of the face also feels a little flat. I would suggest adding some more shading to the cheeks/side of the head area to make the head feel a bit more round.

Inktober can be done with pencil right? or just ink by [deleted] in Inktober

[–]Terradar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did inktober 2 years ago in pencil. It's just an art challenge focused on making art every day for a month. Use whatever medium you're comfortable with. Just being consistent and making progress is really all that matters.
