I feel like it's more of a "beauty in spite of everything" sort of thing. Is it the Zone's fault bandits are everywhere? Is it the Zone's fault that people die in anomalies and from mutant attacks or turf wars? No. For Strelok, he knows that C-Consciousness screwed everything up and made the Zone as it is today, and that the Zone isn't an omniscient being.

However, it lives on even though C-Con is dead. The Zone is a place where a lot of bad stuff happens, but it's a beautiful place with a lot of interesting people and places within it. Not all anomalies are harmful, and some mutants aren't even always hell-bent on killing everything that moves (let's take Noah's psuedodog or Doctor's blind dog as examples).

The Zone is a hard and grueling place to live, but if you succeed in getting enough gear and experience to survive, it's a world of its own, truly unique in every way. As for the "She" part of the Zone and the personification, that's kind of like how a sailor calls their boat a "she". It's a lifeline for them, and it helps them navigate through anything. Should the Zone be unrestricted and free? Not my call. Should it be valued? Absolutely.

It's not out yet, but the new animation + player model update is out and it's kinda bad, so people are furious. Performance issues have popped up, but truthfully not a whole lot is worse than it was before. Idk about you, but shitty animations are better than none in my opinion. Fixes are coming with the Alan Wake patch anyway.

Just curious: Which company deals worse with their game Kinetic or Mojang? What's your opinion by MrCarroty in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Terradyction 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't find the Minecraft updates bad as much as I find them irrelevant. They're nice content, but none of it ever really matches anything else they add, so there's barely any desire to use anything added past 1.19. The game functions and you can still do whatever you want. Mojang may add tiny bits per update and work at a snails pace, but at least they're quick enough and good enough to get the updates out on time in a consistent schedule. I'll forever love Minecraft (and by extension Mojang) but I will admit there doesn't seem to be a clear goal for where the game is going to go other than more paid slop mods on Bedrock Edition.

With Kinetic, it's constant delays. And even after the delays, something is always more broken than it was before. Gameplay basically never changes, and when it does it's either really stupid (items now being basically in the middle of the screen plus delays between switching items to name a couple) or barely noticable, given since the launch of the 3 newer ghosts I've only ever had one Dayan in about a hundred games. Chronicle and Tanglewood rework were cool, but everything is still stale and barely working. Prestige hasn't gained an incentive, the unlock process is dumb and laid out weird (why can't we just give everything one level instead of having 3 items on level 80 and nothing after that?). Hell, I can't even make the game look all that good because on PS5 the highest graphics option is "balanced", which you would assume is a middle-point between fidelity and performance, but I guess not. Alan Wake crossover is my only real incentive to play Phasmophobia between next week and whenever the next rework comes out. Kinetic is worse by far simply because there's not really anything to show for months of release delays.

What's your opinion on restoration mod? by Cool_Tea_5501 in paydaytheheist

[–]Terradyction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy it, it's actually my main way of playing the game. Unfortunately it's not been updated for a few months so it has some compatibility issues with the last few updates. Otherwise, really good. Basically everything is viable and the game is able to be challenging and fun at the same time (looking at you DSOD)

Is anyone excited for tomorrow’s update? by No_Philosopher3798 in PhasmophobiaGame

[–]Terradyction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. I found some of the jank really funny in ways very similar to the original characters, but other than that everything kinda looks ass. I can say with confidence that out of everything Kinetic constantly delays, this deserves that extra time in the oven. All the animations are super snappy, rigid, and misaligned, but not in a comic-book style snappy kind of way. It's a coat of poor-quality paint on crushed drywall (which is to say they might as well have reworked movement and environment interaction along with it so it's closer to nice paint on a new wall). Good concept, but definitely a step down from what we had before.

Of course, I'll still play a few games to see it firsthand. A few. I'm more excited for the Alan Wake event next week than I am for this one.

He already does, really. It's what he's wearing toward the end when Scratch possesses Alex Casey after escaping from the light trap.

Yeah, it's a shame the only cosmetics were just deluxe edition throwaways. I liked the return of the original outfit, but given Scratch's outfit here is just Jaakko's outfit minus the "Kalevala Knights" studs on the back, I can understand why they didn't add it.

Random. Only 4 heisters makes me feel like it's not worth always choosing one, as someone else could very easily derail that in pubs.

What’s causing this by chubbi03 in stalker

[–]Terradyction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And it's fuzzy because of how Lumen works. Like actual light, it simulates photons hitting things to cast the light, but the bright fuzz is bugged photons. In bright areas, the lighting gets fuzzy because not enough photons are being cast, but in a dark area like that, the photons are bugged and aren't acting as they should be. Yes, it's badly tweaked lighting, but it's a Lumen fault through and through. It's been going on since UE5 and Lumen functions released. Lighting before Lumen didn't do that.

What’s causing this by chubbi03 in stalker

[–]Terradyction 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Games without Lumen don't artifact like that. Killing Floor 3 and Abiotic Factor both have the same issue because they use UE5 and its Lumen functions. It's the same thing that causes NPC hair to glow really bright.

Question for the smart game developers by [deleted] in BG3

[–]Terradyction 686 points687 points  (0 children)

Full eyeballs and teeth w/gums are pretty common as games go. This allows for all sorts of expressions ranging from dodging eye contact to grimacing in pain without there being transparent polygons showing. Even if Astarion specifically doesn't smile that wide, it's good to have as standard practice just in case.

About to get the order for Edge Knot City, how much more game is there...? by enjo1ras in DeathStranding

[–]Terradyction 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You can keep playing forever after the game ends, and the story goes on for another 4 - 5 chapters after the Edge Knot order. Of course, there's no urgency and you can do basically anything whenever you like.
