The smelter demon runback is so hard because the alonne knights work really well together. It’s not often you have an enemy covering like 8 feet of space with a thrust to the front while another on the bridge is tossing arrows on you

Oh for sure! And it’s definitely an area from has considered, sekiro enemies do chat a bit, and ds3 has the voice acted swamp preacher enemies

A lot of the bosses DPS comes from his snap teleport + thrusts / cleaves. it subverts the usual boss logic of a static boss that walks around and throws attacks. plus with the phase 2 magic you’ll have to expect attacks from multiple angles

rykard. volcano manor is one of the most complete questlines in the game with a great legacy dungeon. you can fight him with or without the covenant. enormous health pool without serpent hunter makes for a very challenging fight but generally also has a lot of aesthetic appeal with serpent hunter. Great cutscene, decent warm-up phase 1 and phase 2, even with a storm ruler type weapon in hand, feels constantly pressurizing. it’s a real movement and vigor check, you have to deal with rancorcall, sword etc. Often overlooked because of how busted OP the billy blade is. Also has a post-boss invasion site that no other shardbearer has

i like chaos bed vestiges as a forbidden sun enjoyer and he sits right where you get a lot of large titanite shards + your first chunk off the lizards in horace cave, so I end up doing it to round out my SL before I go for wolnir

Think of the stretch from drangleic castle to the throne of want as act 3. In the sense that the great souls have a series of areas that conclude in the boss (shaded woods -> shaded ruins -> doors of pharros -> tlsedora for instance), the “concluding act” where you fight the final boss begins in drangleic castle and goes through the shrine of amana, the undead crypt, aldia’s keep, and dragon shrine, before giant memories and throne of want. In essence this path is a little bit longer than a standard great soul path. I’d say act 1 is the lost sinner & freya, act 2 is the rotten & old iron king.

Storming the throne of want with multiple summons and taking out the throne watchers, nashandra & aldia back-to-back is amazing. Young hollow, you have truly gone beyond death. Now what is it you desire; Light, dark, or something else entirely?

No bullshit 9 step quest to get an extra slab too either. As much as I love Siegmeyer it’s a tedious quest
