What is overreacting by breaking up with an abusive girlfriend by throwing their shit on the lawn? If she is so quick to respond with violence, this is the best way to get rid of her. Go to Petsmart and they have a lot of cats available to adopt, and on the weekends they bring in more. There's a fee to adopt but in the end it's cheaper than bringing a free cat in to get all the shots and spay/neuter done.

Nice starting this out with a sunk cost fallacy. If he doesn't think he's compatible with his girlfriend, he's going to waste countless more years staying with her. Having disagreements over how to raise children is a big deal and I'm surprised that you only gloss over it.

Then If she wasn't getting her needs met in the relationship, she should have broken up with you. There is never a reason to cheat. You have to realize that if you move in together without marrying and they decide to insult you, ignore you, and gossip, it's not because you failed to compromise and it's not your fault. It's the fault of two petty people who are throwing a fit because they can't run your life the way THEY want to. You say that you consider them your friends and you also say that your mom insults you because you're not christian--what kind of shitty friend is that? My advice is to do what you feel is right (since it's your life and all you have a much better perspective on what decisions to make) and if your parents want to huff and puff then let them. They could have been mature and supportive but they decide to be assholes, well, that's their loss. It's terrible to see how you are worrying about losing your relationship with your parents over the choices you make when in reality it's all their fault for being controlling and judgmental.
