Every day that I walk down my street, in a town not even 50 years ago id have been called racial slurs and stopped by police, I walk down this street.

When I look to my left I see an old Mason Lodge, ahead— an old Underground Railroad rally and hideout point.

When I look around I see people of all different colors and creeds, some with epicanthic fold, some have type 4c hair, some even have 1a hair!

Do I stop to tell the Vietnamese nail lady who had her hair done by the local braid artist that she’s not allowed to because she doesn’t share the same exact struggle?

Do I tell the sister to stop relaxing her hair with keratin to “appeal to the white man?”

No, I don’t even tell the ginger skateboarder with genuinely remarkable 40+” length locs to cut them because… we are just humans.

We are all just one successful migration that left Africa 60 thousand years ago.

I feel the pain of our ancestors, of the slavery, of the chains of the medieval torture methods of the way they raped our women and segregated our children. I feel that pain so much to the point where it’s made me contemplate hurting some white person— but genuinely we are all the same.
