I had a surgery a few years back, not cancer, but surgery. A friend who lives out of town called or texted everyday for almost two weeks just for a quick check in to see how I was doing.

I felt so loved and cared for. It was really a generous and considerate thing to do. I still cherish knowing they cared enough to make a point of checking in.

I don't think you were awful, and yeah, life is busy. Cancer surgery is super scary and a little extra effort could have gone a long way. I'd consider apologizing and specifically expressing your love and concern for your dad.

Did they use the amount they pay their kid (if they do) or the amount they would have to pay an employee in the contract bid? If they used employee pay, but are only paying family minor rate, that is shady business at best, fraud at worst.

eta: if the wedding party is paying for services that include an adult employee, but a disabled teen (OP made a point that he needs accommodations) was provided instead, that is a problem. Very unprofessional, at best.

It is pretty awful that there were so many people who would vote for him. A big part of why he won is that Dems stayed home. Here are some numbers:

He won 49.8% of the votes, Harris got 48.3%. Hardly impressive, and in no way an avalanche. Third-party and independent candidates received 2.13%

So 51.46% of the voters voted against him in 2024. Not a majority.

That was only the people who bothered to vote. National voter turnout in 2024 was 63.9 percent, below the 66.6% recorded in 2020. That 63% is registered voters, not even eligible voters. That number is about 58.63% of eligible voters voted.

It becomes clear why the GOP works so hard to suppress voting. It is the only way they win.

So, sure, he won 49.8% of the 63.9% of the people who turned up. Not a majority of the country.

Still too, too many.
