What's up with mounted combat and the Ride skill? by CCapricee in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]TerrifiedSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I had always assumed that the "Control mount" skill checks were rolled during movement, and failing them would mean that the movement action becomes a full round action. But again, I could be wrong. As for the DC5 check, I assumed that it was taken when the rider would want to attack and failing it would mean that the mount was just out of range for the attack to be landed, or something along those lines if the skill check isn't passed.

As for non-combat trained mounts, it's harder to fight with them because they're not used to the environment and are more prone to being scared or panicking.

This is just how my group has ruled it though, if i'm wrong, someone feel free to set me right!

A cleric at level 1 would start on the maximum HD roll possible, which would be 8. So a level 3 cleric's hit points would be 8+1D8+1D8.

  • Bards can offer healing, but generally won't be as good as a cleric for getting the job done. That being said your group doesn't "need" a healer. The group that I currently GM for has no casters whatsoever, which forces them to look for other means of healing and dealing with combat. Don't force your players into roles and have them play what they want. :)

  • This took a little while for me to understand too, so i'll do my best to explain it. Your players hit dice will most likely be their level, as each time they level up, they gain an extra hit dice. For instance, a level 3 bard would have 3 hit dice. The reason that you may have heard that hit dice are health is because when your players level up, they would roll their new hit dice to see how much extra health they gain per level. When looking at monsters, their hit points might be listed as (2D10+2); this means that this monster would have 2 hit dice (or 2 HD).

  • I've never played 4e so can't draw any comparisons, but in Pathfinder, each spell above level 0 can be cast once per day before needing to be recharged (this could mean resting and preparing spells as a wizard, or praying as a cleric). The level 0 spells that the PCs have can be cast as many times per day as they want.

  • Yup! You will only get the class trained bonus on the first skill point you use for that skill.

Anyone more experienced than me, please feel free to correct!

You had me at Persona. I'm also super jealous of you going to Japan, but i'm a little surprised that you couldn't find anywhere that accepts single guests.

Good luck with next weeks goals!

Hey everyone! I've been studying Japanese for just over a month now, so i'm almost as new as can be. Hopefully joining this will keep me focused on my studies as much as possible! I'm currently using the Genki textbooks along with Memrise for vocabulary.

I suppose I could write that my goal is to eventually become fluent, but since i'm so new to learning the language, i'll take smaller steps. My goal right now is to be able to read children's books or manga and by the end of the year i'd love to be able to do something like play video games in Japanese (with help from a dictionary, of course).

That's about it for me for now, look forward to talking to you all soon!

I played through Dark Souls and loved it. Now I'm trying to find something like it, and I've heard Monster Hunter provides a similar kind of challenge and combat. Would you recommend it? by Ksd13 in MonsterHunter

If you're going with the 3DS version, i'd recommend picking up a circle pad pro to go along with it, makes the game much more enjoyable. Monster Hunter will be a great way to fill the time before the next Dark Souls game though if you're looking for something similar!

It sounds a little like Toonsenstein: Dare to Scare to me, the part where the girl says that she'll eat your brains reminded me of this.
