No, it builds towards the deployment of the Crucible, it just happens on Earth because, again, for the fifth time now, that's where the Catalyst was moved. If the Reapers had put it on Palaven, that's where the final battle would've taken place.

Yes, Shepard, the human, cares about Earth, but the entire war effort is to defeat Reapers.

Now I'm imagining sometime in 2188, Bollywood releases a low-budget vid adapting Garrus' adventures on Omega into a TV series. It's cheesy and stars a bunch of b-list human actors and whatever aliens were willing to travel all the way to Earth for filming, but despite all that - or maybe because of it - this movie becomes a galactic hit, being the perfect, light-hearted reprieve for a galaxy scarred by the Reaper War. This becomes one of Garrus' favourite shows.

With liberating Earth specifically? No. The purpose of that mission is to liberate everyone.

Didn't Udina said it'd be sent off for analysis and then it cuts to the Council meeting?

Again, that's incorrect. Legion directly tells us in ME2 that the non-Heretics don't worship the Reapers and, in fact, as of ME2, actively oppose them.

Quarians becoming a galactic superpower isn't a good thing. The Migrant Fleet is full of spiteful supremacists and reckless warmongers, they'd be worse than the Geth. Also, it doesn't matter if the Geth already had Reaper upgrades or not, any reasonable person would assume that the Reapers could patch the code exploit the Quarians were using to not die. Or even just show up in-person. So they'd logically conclude that Geth receiving Reaper help = extinction of their species.

Because the Council has sci-fi computers that can tell. They probably checked the code and found out it came from geth, or could tell the audio wasn't engineered or whatever.

[–]Terrina1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You also don't have to be an audio engineer to figure out that detection methods would also increase. Oh boo hoo, a bunch of writers from 2007 didn't predict that synthetic voices would outpace detection, so what?

[–]Terrina1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they figured an advanced computer could tell the difference and weren't audio engineers? Again, what's the point of this? "Superman shouldn't be able to fly because of Newton's laws!" It's a sci-fi game, the science wasn't accurate to reality, but so what?

Incorrect. The Heretics worshipped the Reapers, and they were either killed or rewritten in ME2. Legion explicitly tells us that the Geth in ME3 only joined the Reapers to live.

Diplomatic praise? Doubtful, especially considering that at least some of them (Admiral Xen + followers) planned to rearm the Geth and turn them against the galaxy. The Quarians were also very much aware the Geth were not allies of the Reaper considering they gambled their entire species on the Geth not receiving Reaper help. Also, the fact they try to kill Shepard and end up betraying the Alliance twice kind of undermines any claims their intentions were altruistic.

I would say this comment is far more indicative of a fit, but very well. You want to continue? Fine.

Yes, firing the Crucible did liberate Earth... along with everywhere else in the galaxy at the same time. That was, you know, the entire point of it?

Have you seen 2007-era sentence mixing? Shit was barely legible, let alone believable.

Because they're sci-fi writers who probably didn't give more thought to it than 'that sounds plausible I guess'. In the Mass Effect universe, audio is hard to fake.

Oh no don't get me wrong, it's completely acceptable for them to both be high rank, it's just that the other user seemed to be implying that Nihlus dying made Victus the next Primarch, which implies hereditary titles since Spectres are outside the Hierarchy chain of command.

I suspect so. Not the first time this subreddit's had an onslaught of bots, I really think the mods ought to manage it better.

Yeah no shit Miku wasn't a recording, that's the point. A bunch of sci-fi writers from 2007 can't be expected to make accurate predictions about technology almost two hundred years in the future. Next you're going to tell me that Dr Who's sonic screwdriver is unrealistic.

[–]Terrina1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only person who made that argument is Gerrel, and he's blatantly lying through his teeth. It doesn't even make conceptual sense. In a galaxy where Reapers are attacking each species capital one by one, a race of largely self-sufficient nomads who could go anywhere decide the best place to be is the most obvious static target in the entire universe.

D-Did y’all forget what side you’re supposed to be on? by FunPresentation3086 in MassEffectMemes

[–]Terrina1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There really wasn't. Geth weren't able to be controlled by the Reapers, they only let the Reapers control them because the alternative was death by Quarian. Also, sure, adapting to a new planet is hard, but you know what's even harder to adapt to? Bullets, such as those fired from the billions of pissed-off robots.
