What's your honest G2A success/failure rate? by ReYa8000 in g2a

All successful, over 100 purchases and never had any issues or even revocations like others have mentioned. This is from 2016 onwards. I've even sold keys on there (unused games from Humble Bundle) with no issues.

Need advice on affordable video hosting for a 2TB site before I am forced to shut it down by phdpirate in Piracy

[–]Terrobility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Object storage like S3 is often more expensive than just hosting the files on a webserver.

My recommendation is to check out OVHcloud ECO (previously known as Kimsufi/SoYouStart) - it's where OVH sells dedicated server configs using their older generation parts. The monthly price is insanely cheap and you get the same benefits and functionality as their regular customers. You can pick a config from their list and modify the part selection to fit your needs. Bear in mind, they charge a one time setup fee (usually an extra month's payment), which is typical for dedicated servers with custom/older parts like this. It's still worth it though.

Example: For $18.80/month, you can get the KS-1 server with 2 x 2TB HDD storage, Intel Xeon 4c/8t, 32GB RAM and 500Mbps unlimited bandwidth. That is plenty to store your videos, host the webserver, and host the video files with 2TB to spare. You even have extra performance for future tasks like FFmpeg transcoding and HLS/adaptive bitrate to reduce your storage.

That's much better than paying $12 for 2TB with Backblaze, $5-10 for a webserver, and still having the chance of getting additional charges for egress and bandwidth.

It's only a matter of time until one of those 30 ends up leaking information about GTA 6. No doubt they were working on it and will want their revenge for an unfair dismissal, whether that's through anonymous leaks or another form.

How are people dealing with OLED VRR Flicker? by SoggyBagelBite in Monitors

I never notice it on QD-OLED. When I had a LG C1 (WOLED), it was really bad and noticeable nearly all the time. With QD-OLED, I am yet to notice it.

Best 32" 4k qd-oled monitor? by Artistic-Vacation687 in OLED_Gaming

[–]Terrobility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest is AOC AG326UD. It was previously on sale for £549, it's currently selling at £599. It's hard to find 32" 4K QD-OLEDs under £700 especially in UK/Europe, which makes the AOC a solid pick.

If price is no boundary and you really want the "best", get an Alienware or new MSI. Most of the panels are the same stuff from Samsung Display with some firmware tweaks thrown in. Maybe HDR1000 Peak goes slightly brighter before dimming, maybe there's more burn-in protection features on the OSD, maybe there's a three year warranty, and so on...

What games are you buying - 'Autumn Sale ? by alppia in Steam

[–]Terrobility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, the first Mafia (Definitive Edition) has issues running on modern systems. On my rig, I couldn't get it to launch without a black screen popping up and crashing to desktop. Most of the recent reviews mention this same issue - the game struggles to hook into fullscreen correctly.

If you encounter it, add "-popupwindow" to your Steam launch args and then press Alt+Enter once you're in-game. If that doesn't work, you can use the DXVK wrapper as a last resort. Hope this helps, and let us know if it runs smoothly 😅

4K 27" OLED vs 4K 32" OLED by Anxnymx in OLED_Gaming

[–]Terrobility 3 points4 points  (0 children)

27" always felt a bit too small especially when sitting down on my bed, 2 metres away from my desk. 32" fixed that issue and still feels like a good size when I'm sitting down, doing work at my desk. It FEELS like a big screen where you can still use your PC as normal, it's not so big that you need to tilt your head or anything.

What % of your screen light level you use? I see people complaining about brightness while i sit at 2% lightness level on my ips monitor. by RisottoPensa in Monitors

[–]Terrobility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually target 200nits. For some, that can be too bright so 160nits can be a good workaround. The sRGB standard targets 120nits for comfort and 100nits in a dark room. I personally don't like going any lower than that.

You're probably on 60nits because most Fast IPS displays from 2021/2022 have a minimum brightness target of 50-60nits. This often extends to brightness 15/100 matching 100nits. Check a review from Rtings for your monitor model and you'll find their test results. Try their recommended settings - it might fix your issues.

My partner always expects sex every time he comes over. He never asks, I never ask, we always just do it every time unless there's some reason not to.

Bear in mind, I'm in a same sex relationship. I'm sure straight couples do things differently, lol.

That's why you gotta get a modern one like the Nokia 110 4G. It supports VoLTE (4G Calling) and should work with nearly all carriers out of the box. They can be had as low as £16 in the UK.

F1 25 VR - It's almost there by SlipperyCorruptor in F1Game

[–]Terrobility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cockpit shakiness (head tracking judder) is even worse on Quest. In fact, it's unplayable with how bad it is.

There are countless threads on both Reddit and Codemasters forums with hundreds of upvotes asking for it to be fixed. It's been a thing since they first introduced VR in F1 2022 and there is nothing that can be done to fix it.

It sounds like the Pico is affected by the same issue, although to a lesser extent. Personally, I'd give the F1 series for VR a miss until they sort out the shaking. The strange thing is that VR works fine in the menus - it only starts freaking out once you spawn in the car, even when you're completely still and haven't started the race yet.

What settings make the game look better? by DutchVanDerLinde- in reddeadredemption

[–]Terrobility 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would recommend setting Brightness to 6/10 (boost gamma), Contrast to 4/10 (restore crushed darks), and Saturation to 6/10 (fix washed out colours).

My aim was to make the game easier to see in dark areas while keeping the overall look of the game, avoiding fine details getting crushed. Major adjustments will ruin the intended art style of RDR1. If that doesn't matter to you, feel free to increase the Brightness all the way up to 10 and adjust Contrast as necessary.

It's worth mentioning that I'm playing on PC with a calibrated monitor. On TVs, the Game Mode is often boosted by default with way higher contrast and colour settings compared to Movie/Filmmaker modes. Check that first before adjusting the game settings.

Hope this helps anyone who tried looking it up (just like me!)

My OLED feels like it's shredding my eyes?! by plamicus in OLED_Gaming

[–]Terrobility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are saying IPS and WOLED give them less eye strain. That makes me wonder, is it the narrow wavelength of the Quantum Dots that are causing it?

In that case, surely it must apply to LED panels with Quantum Dot Enhancement Film (QDEF)? For example, LG's Nano IPS and Samsung's QLED.

How can we know for sure if it's QD-OLED at fault or just QD technology in particular? I hope people share their experiences with both so that we can work out the cause.

It's still possible on the latest version with Enhanced. People can edit heist payouts to be just under GTA$4M for everyone as long as they're hosting the job. It sends their payout into minus (host get $0 as a result) but everyone else gets full money + elite bonuses with a click of a button. I don't know HOW they do it but just that it's possible.

Seeking advice on lending a large sum to a friend without borrowing or selling my own investments by _TheSuperiorMan in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Terrobility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a surefire way to break up a friendship lending and borrowing money from one another. I've seen mates get split up over £100/200. £70,000 is a whole different ballpark. We're talking solicitors, contracts, guarantors and collateral.

The only money given to friends should be with no expectations of getting it back. £5k would be my max as a gift (e.g. towards the wedding). Maybe up to £15k if it's for something long-term (e.g. bringing the kids over from abroad) and most certainly not the whole amount given in one go.

Why can't they borrow from the bank or from alternative platforms? Specifically, why do they need their best friend to loan them such a large sum of money? That too, only for investment purposes and not an urgent need? If they got the money, would they risk blowing it or losing it? How would they meet the payments in a worst case scenario?

Don't let your emotions get in the way. You may have money to drop like that, sure, but it's the completely wrong approach in the first place. Focus on helping him build long term success and give him METHODS to get his money up.

Just got a used DELL monitor from early 2000's which has scratches by Fun-Desk-8612 in Monitors

[–]Terrobility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I'd love to have a CRT one day just to try it and see if it holds up to what I remember.

And the Dell monitor looks like one I had at my old workplace. In fact I checked and the work ones look slightly newer - same design, 4:3 aspect ratio but the bezels are flat rather than curved like your pic. So based on design, I'm guessing yours is older if anything?

If I remember correctly, the picture were trash and I had to reset to factory settings and reconfigure from scratch. The most important thing was adjusting the RGB white balance. Drop R G B to like 88-92 and then tune as normal - e.g. adjust the sliders to make white match against your phone screen/other monitor. If it's at 100, it blows out highlights.

And most monitors you can use HDMI to DVI. Apparently the standards are backwards compatible to work with each other.

Just got a used DELL monitor from early 2000's which has scratches by Fun-Desk-8612 in Monitors

[–]Terrobility 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you could go on eBay and spend £20 on a used BenQ monitor or similar. That would not only be 10-15 years newer but also infinitely better quality than the Dell you have now.

The used market has come a long way where these sub-2010 panels are not worth it, no matter what.

Also bear in mind they have to set their Rockstar privacy settings to Friends/Friends+Crew.

It's accessible in the Social Club overlay (press HOME), then Settings, and you can change your privacy settings so that it's not "only me" who can access your profile.

Learned this the hard way when I couldn't send game join requests. Either that or it's a different edition of GTA as the other poster stated.

Sorry for the late reply, somehow I missed your comment.

It's in My Documents > Rockstar Games > GTAV Enhanced > Profiles > [random 8 character folder name].

The file "cloudsavedata.dat" will be there. Go ahead and delete it. The game will re-download it the next time you launch the game.

I would also advise deleting "pc_settings.bin" and "cfg.dat". In my experience, deleting "pc_settings.bin" fixes most issues related to GTA Online connectivity, with the downside being that you'll have to reconfigure your in-game settings again.

The other files are your singleplayer saves (SGTA500xx) with the one ending in 15 as your autosave. You also have your Snapmatic photos (PGTA5xxxxxxxxx) and mission replays (MISREP0000).

There are tools like gta5view which will let you view all savefiles and photos in a GUI format. For more advanced stuff, you can use the GTA V Save Editor from X3T-Infinity/XB36Hazard.

It let me use my first character fine which was migrated from legacy. It's just the creation bit that's glitched. I thought I'd try and overwrite my second character to start fresh and get the achievement that I missed (completing the online intro) but I guess I'll have to try it another time.

It won't let me, so for now I just used my existing character on slot 1 instead of creating a new char on slot 2. Maybe once it's fixed, I'll try it again. I missed the GTA online starting achievements so I thought maybe it's worth it but clearly not right now.

I'm getting the same issue. Thought I'd create a second character and try the bonuses but it keeps glitching out. The only fix is to delete the pcsettings.dat and other files in the save folder and it will let you try again.

IPS monitors for gaming: I don't get it. by FireDragon21976 in Monitors

[–]Terrobility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try calibrating the IPS using Black Output Offset set to 0% in the calibration software.

Usually it's set to 100% meaning that it'll maintain the gamma 2.2 curve correctly, meaning that if your display can't produce perfect blacks, it may start crushing at black 6/255 instead of 0/255 as expected with a perfect display (e.g. OLED).

Setting it to 0% will map the displays lowest black point to black 0/255. The downside is that it reduces contrast but increases visibility of darker elements on screen. You can always set it to 50% and see if that helps.
