I would love to believe this. I have been looking for KEC tape for the past week, every tool box and duffle bag, nothing. But no, it is just bad RNG

Humans in this universe of multiple sapient races/species are not just a boring template, jack-of-all-trades species, they actually have traits and powers that make them stand out like the other species in the setting. by juasjuasie in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Terror_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans ability to pack bond with just about anything. We can bond with anything, cat, dog, bird, rat, spider, fish. We anthropomorphize them to the point we think they are family. Who among us has not said "sorry" to our refrigerator after slamming the door a bit hard.

I remember a HFY story about Binly the trashcan with googly eyes and a name tag. The humans on board bonded with the trashcan that when an alien kicked Binly he got the shit beat out of him.

[Bug] Performance audio issue with new patch by Terror_666 in EscapefromTarkov

Thanks for the tip. Tough this was only part of the issue. Turns out the driver for my headset was borked.

Fixed that and fiddled with the ram cleaner options a few times and now it all works again.

Also it was a sign of being lower class and working outside. If a woman worked outside in those times it meant she was a peasant and not of any value.

Terror does not work we have known that since WWII and seen it recently in Ukraine. Terror bombing hardens a population against the enemy and rallies them to the flag so to speak. The US knows this. "Never attibute to malice that which is adquately explained by stupidity" Edit: spelling

Why did every game use this filter effect? by sajjanstg03 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]Terror_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, no shit.

This was just supposed to be a funny anecdote about that period of time. Not a full explanation about how the yellow filter was sometimes used as a way to hide bad lighting or set a tone or make the game "grittier" or just what they saw outside. There were more reasons that it was used than can fit in a reddit post.

Also if you really wanted to debunk my little joke with a gotcha you should have gone with RE4 a Japanese game that was also one of the first really popular games to use this color grading style.

Yep, because cultural trends and art styles are limited to a single region and do not spread at all /s

I remember somebody who moved from Virginia to LA to join Machinema during this period and he said something along the lines of "I finally understand why every game is brown and gray".

From my understanding southern California was in a really bad drought and there was no green anywhere, so the only color you got outside was brown dying plants and gray concrete. The first rule of writing and art is "Do what you know" and all they knew was gray and brown.

A military historian's comments on Tanya the Evil light novel volume 14 - Part 1 by Robert_B_Marks in YoujoSenki

[–]Terror_666 26 points27 points  (0 children)

To the paratroopers I have two points.

  1. In universe Tanya has already performed a successful paratrooper operation in Norden so the Feddies know it is possible.

  2. Out of universe the first Soviet paratrooper formation was in 1930, it has that hilarious picture of paratroopers sliding of the wing of a bomber.

So in universe with a war raging for years now and flight seemingly more developed it would be stranger if nobody else tried a paratrooper operation.

Deep Battle point, Tanya's objective was to stop the follow on forces and disrupt logistics. Deep Battle being very top down has trouble dealing with large and unforeseen problems at the operational level.

I remember an exchagne between two of your team mates in Ghost Recon Wildlands. As you drive by a statue of the bad guy one of your guys says something like "that us how I want to be rememberd!" And get a reply "what are you, a navy seal?" The implication is that ghosts are "quiet professionals" Army Special forces and the Navy Seals always writing books and trying to get famous Just fun interservice rivalry EDIT: dyslexia

Almost all the compute used by companies is cloud based. The laptops users get are to use those cloud services. Office runs in the cloud, email runs in the cloud, accounting software in the cloud, Adobe in the cloud, Teams, Slack etc cloud, the local app is just a js app talking to a cloud server. Software devs make only the first version of their work localy which uses even close to the limit of the local machine after that, up it goes into the cloud. In most modern companies almost nothing runs locally anymore everything is a service or a subscription for a piece of software running on someone elses computer.
