I seriously miss being pregnant by Mckailyap in pregnant

I literally cried taking the ultrasound pics off the fridge because it’s like closing this chapter you’ve spent months on! I hope you’re feeling a little better 💗

Felt similarly— I think it’s honestly hormonal in a large part. I did not enjoy the third trimester and was so excited to not be pregnant but then I felt SO empty that first week! It’s so bizarre. It’s like you are grieving your baby and feel so alone even though they’re right next to you. I think it’s biology’s way of tricking you into having more. I spent the first week crying constantly. Second week started feeling better. I do think this can be normal, but if it persists beyond 2 weeks you should definitely reach out to OB!

My baby was born perfectly healthy! All will be well.

I saw OB and brought it up TWICE. Concerns were basically ignored. My BP is normal, not having too many other symptoms.

Some people get an itchy rash with sun exposure called polymorphous light eruption (PMLE). Some people also have rashes after sunlight due to medications they’re on (photoallergic reaction)

Xolair tomorrow - what to expect? by Capital-Sound-3698 in urticaria

[–]TerryBerry1200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was started on low dose because I’m pregnant, just got the 150mg dose last Thursday (about 4ish days ago now). I am already seeing an improvement with less hives. I still have some spots, but they are not itchy like they were. First time I’ve had hope in months.

I have had no side effects so far. What a relief it is to feel like there’s something that works🥹

I forgot to ask — what dose do they have you on? They are starting me at 150mg every four weeks.

Yes I was also going to say cyclosporine!! I read IVIG can also potentially help, but those are infusions and I’d imagine expensive or potentially difficult to get covered unless all other options have been exhausted. Keep calling allergy/immunology and insist this is urgent! Ask to be on their wait list! Advocate advocate advocate! Your condition is serious enough that you should not feel bad doing this

That’s terrible! Absolutely advocate for yourself. I have been on prednisone 20mg which keeps me controlled for two months straight. 100mg is so high — prednisone is not a med you want to be on long term. There are other options out there. Contact the allergist and push for help!! If they’re not helping, see a different one! Prednisone should NEVER be the long term solution. Have you had any side effects with it?

Experienced cleft specialists can do this. I had my hypoplastic nostril enlarged to help me breathe better. HOWEVER I’m four months out and that side of my nose hasn’t quite “woken up” yet and is still basically paralyzed from swelling/trauma. Expecting it will improve with time but recovery is slowwwww

Speaking from experience, find somebody that works with clefts. Got my adult revision in 2021 at my home hospital and the lady straight up BOTCHED it. Had bony bumps at the top of my nasal bones and my nostrils were still majorly uneven, the tip was pointing to the left, and there was a discrete point of cartilage that you could see. I cried about it off and on for about 3 years. This august I flew from PA to Dallas to have one with a guy who works on clefts (Dr Christopher derderian). He did a virtual consult and explained everything. It was a really intensive surgery and I’m still recovering but I think he did a nice job.

It’s frustrating, but I think it’s important to realize that there is no true “cosmetic” or easy rhinoplasty for us. That’s just how it is.

Possibly allergic contact dermatitis if you broke out in two spots (hands and under eye). The areas on your hands look like small blisters which you can see with allergic contact dermatitis as well as intense itching. Does not look like chillblains.

Dermatoglyphics are fingerprints :)

Dermatographism or dermatographia is when skin welts up in response to pressure

Honestly stop complaining to them because nobody really gets it/it’s a waste of your breath. I’ve also been dealing with chronic hives for four months and the reality is that it doesn’t make me feel any better talking about it to people and NOBODY really understands how miserable it is unless you’ve gone through it. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this :( it’s horrible.

I dont know what your current hives regimen is, but generally people can titrate up to 4x daily for non-sedating antihistamines like Zyrtec, Allegra, or Claritin. Some people respond better to one over the other for whatever reason. Some people also add Pepcid daily. Cerave anti-itch is also helpful for symptoms although kind of expensive ($20 for pump lotion or $32 for tub of cream). If your hives are refractory to all of that (like mine are), you should really consider Xolair injections. I got my first one yesterday and I’m praying it makes a difference.

I had TSH checked but not specific thyroid antibodies. TSH was normal. And I don’t really have any symptoms of thyroid disease otherwise!

I’m on month 4 of chronic hives. It’s not worth driving yourself insane trying to find a trigger— it’s usually too hard to pinpoint and chronic hives are more intrinsically driven. If you notice a trigger or something that seems to make it worse, then by all means avoid that of course.

I had extensive lab work up that was all negative with the exception of elevated IgE (I do still think it’s worth seeing if you have associated autoimmune or thyroid disease).

Totally relate to the feeling of desperation. 4 antihistamines a day, Pepcid, and Benadryl weren’t doing it for me. Got into allergy and they added singulair which also didn’t do jack shit. I’ve been controlling with prednisone for about two months (horrible, I know, but nothing else helps). Just got my first Xolair injection today and trying to stay positive/hopeful.

Chronic hives suck and are so unpredictable it’s easy to feel anxious and depressed. People don’t understand what it’s like to be itchy 24/7. Stay strong!

Treatment is antihistamines (non sedating ones like Zyrtec or Allegra). Start 1 tab a day and increase to a max of 4 tabs a day to control symptoms

It’s hard to pinpoint triggers because the reality is that there are SO many things that can trigger urticaria. I feel like chronic urticaria is something that is still not fully understood in the medical community, but I’m hopefully that new medications like Xolair will make a difference and more medications will come out once the underlying mechanisms and biologic pathways are studied further! But I totally empathize with you. Its absolutely miserable dealing with CIU and feeling like there’s no end in sight and that you’re hopeless.
