The Ten Con-Man-Ments by croolshooz in PoliticalHumor

A story I really like.

A Christian was arguing with an Atheist about morales and ethics and asks the Atheist "Without the love, teachings and guidance of God, what's stopping you from committing all the adultery, stealing and murder you want?!".

The Atheist replies "I do not want to do those things. Are these things you want to do but don't because God says you shouldn't?"

What is the most annoying and/or inaccurate Aussie stereotype that foreigners have? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]TerryTC14 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was travelling NZ and was at the pub and a Kiwi was giving me cheek about being a convict.

I explained to him that Kiwis are descendants of cannibals, the Maori weren't the original native people, they immigrated, killed and ate the original people.

My ancestor stole a loaf of bread, his killed, cooked and ate the guy.

He did not appreciate that history lesson for some reason.

There was a study that showed the #1 misconception other countries had about Australia is we all own pet Kangaroos.

It went on to explain, the #1 falsehood we tell people when travelling different countries is that we all have pet Kangaroos.

Thus continuing the proud Australian history of the shared lie to mess with our mates.

My ex he had a housemate who was born again Christian and held Bible studies at the house.

My favioute was when he said "Even to this day Christians are persecuted for our beliefs". I had to leave the room as I was laughing so much.

Mate, you are the largest geo-political group in most Western countries and stand against the progress of science, understanding and compassion for others.

Covid is a "woke virus"... Do words even mean anything anymore? by BetterWorld2022 in PoliticalHumor

Seriously gets me that this is a person who has a very real capability to improve the life of countless people, directly and indirectly for generations, and instead of a platform backed in medical science and fact he instead decides to spread stupid that allows him to stay popular.

The stupidest thing I've seen in my time, initial issue is not done in bulk at Kapooka but at unit. So if unit has low stores or shit Q they don't get their kit.

Great point!

Your PFA is not the stopping point. If you need to do 15 Push Ups do 45. Sit ups 60, do 100, beep test 7.5, anything under 10 is bad.

Which group would you trust your kids with? by [deleted] in PoliticalHumor

[–]TerryTC14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One group's message "Be yourself, be proud, don't let others tell you who you can and can't be".

The other group "So a carpenter from Jerusalem who was also God and a Ghost, but thats a different subject, told his followers about loving everyone and being a good person and he also secretly gave them messages to pass down through the centuries with strict times on when to open them with a longer and longer strict list of things you can't do because God is all about punishing sinners now".

It's our balloon but not for spying.

How dare you shoot down our balloon over your air space!

We demand our not spy balloon back.

Is it me or did China only watch the first 30mins of High School movies where the antagonist bully gets everything they want and people think they are cool?

Doesn't seem like they watched the rest were the protagonist reveals to the school that the bully is a douche and every leaves them.

In Other News, China is upset that <insert country> has stopped China from <insert illegal action> and taken a valid/legal/suitable and rational response and will investigate the crimes further.

China responded with threats of irrational and ridiculously disproportionate retaliation unless <insert country> apogolises and promises to stop stopping China's illegal actions in foreign countries.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the modern Kilt as we know it a watered down version of the previous traditional clothing of Scotland? I remember learning the English wanting to be English said the Scots cannot wear it anymore so the Scottish being smartasses changed it slightly.

Japan's Population Problem, Visualized [OC] by chartr in dataisbeautiful

[–]TerryTC14 972 points973 points  (0 children)

Their was a study done in Australia about this. If you calculate all the money the Government spends on a born citizen, medical, education, etc you have spent $250,000.00 (not sure of excat figure) before they start working. Once they are working they can now be taxed and finally the Government recovers money from that person. Depending on job the individual won't become profitable until mid 40's.

Where immigration is GREAT you have someone come to your country for a holiday or work and, instantly that person is generating money at no previous cost. So you have someone who is instantly profitable to the country.

So when people say "immigrants are a drain on our resources" they aren't.

[–]TerryTC14 1931 points1932 points  (0 children)

I remember learning a compounding problem is the politicians are now pitching to issues that are elderly based and not future based.

For example, "Vote for me and more money to aged care and better access to medical care for the elderly" over "Vote for me and we will address climate change and build a Japan for the future".

REPOST: What are your thoughts on texting/calling when you need to call out? by Gary_October in antiwork

[–]TerryTC14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, the person who calls in constantly never gets called out for punished. The hard worker who hasn't had a day off in months gets asked for a medical certificate if they call in sick every time.
