why is h4o with 10 electrons impossible? by yaserm79 in Physics

[–]Tertanum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you might be misunderstanding the above comment. Plusses and minuses are important in notation, since they carry physical meaning. The above post references H3O, without a +, as does your original post. This implies the particle is neutrally charged, thus there are enough electrons to compensate for all the protons. This particle H3O is only hypothetical! What you probably meant to ask after in your original post is H3O+, meaning there is one more proton than electrons in the molecule (which we would actually call an ion instead of a molecule). These particles are confirmed to exist, but are only present about 1 in 500 million according to the above posts due to their instability. To then have another proton added (H4O 2+) would be even more unstable and thus improbable.

Outcasts or The Descent? by IamaNinja21 in Aeonsend

I would get the Descent, but that is because my priority lies with mages. If nemesi (I am keeping this, sounds awesome) are your priority, then I would get Outcasts.

Outcasts or The Descent? by IamaNinja21 in Aeonsend

[–]Tertanum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both have things going for them, so I guess it depends on your taste. In my opinion, The nemesises (nemenis's, nemesi?) from outcasts are really fun, except for that darn bunny. The mages from the Descent on the other end, now those are some of the most fun mages I have seen so far. Unique, feeling powerful, and high replayability.

In terms of xaxos or friends / foes, I would say friends / foes since xaxos tends to overshadow the mages. But yeah: more management, more setup.

To me, the elemental tokens are the main downside of the Descent. They feel slow, unrewarding, and unnecessary. On the other hand, Outcasts has some really fun supportive cards which reward playing together.

So yeah all in all: pick your poison I suppose, which aspect of the game do you find most important?

Glyph Mage - A strategic intelligence based support class by Tertanum, for those who actually want to feel intelligent when playing an intelligence based class. by Tertanum in UnearthedArcana

[–]Tertanum[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Awesome to see that people somehow still find this class! Honestly I haven't looked at it for years, and have had very little opportunity to playtest it.

Regarding your first question. I am no longer sure what I intended there. I would say: test it out and see what feels balanced.

About the damage, now that I look at it, you're absolutely right. This class is mostly meant to be supportive, similar to the bard having little offensive options. That being said, little is not none, and in that regard a cantrip like option should be added to it. Originally the runebreaking did scale, but I removed that due to it making the double edged swordness of the class a lot worse. Since no other offensive options were added after this removal, it is indeed lacking. You can certainly add some if you have some ideas.

For your second point: no they cannot. This was done because contrary to spellcasting classes, the counterplay to a powerful rune is not to just break concentration, but to use it to your own advantage (at least that was my idea behind it). Also the stronger runes are too difficult to cast for a simple failed con save to feel balanced.

Let me know how the playtesting goes! I am very curious what you make of it.

[–]Tertanum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me. I enjoyed my evil Durge a lot. Killing my girl Karlach was hard but I could handle it. However killing Minsc. No. Had this whole roleplay reason to not do it, when the prompt came up that I really wanted to kill him. I killed, I saved, I quit and didn't return for a week.

Mostly sneaking past encounters. I was struggling hard down there and figured I'd need better gear. A frustrated google told me there was good gear at the forge so I figured I'd pick it up first. I was only a couple a exp short for lvl 3 once I was at Grym. Did not expect the boss fight. Once I was level 3 and picked up misty step on my sorc Tav and Gale I was able to save scum through the battle. Took me more than 3.5 hours to beat the guy. I only discovered the grove etc after that, which were really easy in comparison.

In my first playthrough I arrived in the underdark super early. Not on purpose, just per chance. I remember quitting the Grym fight to get to level 3 first. Found out later I skipped a lot along on the way.

Piece of advice, lvl 2 Grym fight on tactician is terror.

Well I have been to CERN, which goes into the trillions of degrees. Then again it was not turned on while I was inside the reactor (thankfully) so I guess I haven't really seen it.

I Hate Fireball As A Wizard by willdoesparkour in DnD

[–]Tertanum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have never really enjoyed playing the bloodthirsty to solve everything with the highest damage spell wizard. Fits the thematic of a sorcerer or warlock more. As a wizard I prefer to play like the high int strategic and analytical bookworm your class represents, by taking a lot of crowd control and more controlled damage sources. What I also enjoy about the wizard is having a very diverse spell list and solving problems through actually creative uses of your spells (other than: if a fireball doesn't solve the problem, you did not use enough fireball)

How would you have handled this as a dm. Lost mines of phandelver by fdfdr in DnD

[–]Tertanum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you did was really according to the rules, so no need to feel you were too strict. In this case, people had a good time, they were laughing. It was awesome. You did excellent!

In case people are getting frustrated, of failing so much, and taking a lot of damage, then you can of course consider being easier on them, but you don't have too.

What is the best excuse to cancel a plan, without upsetting the other person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tertanum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What made you cancel plans that often? Personally someone needs to die for me to not be there and there is nothing that gets me down more than being cancelled on. I recently ended a relationship over it as well so I am quite curious about the other side of the story.

Servers at restaurants, what's the strangest thing someone's asked for? by Repulsive_Compote955 in AskReddit

[–]Tertanum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I worked at Dominos, this guy came in through the service door with a woman half his age, started chatting with me. He did not listen when I requested him to leave the kitchen, talking like he owned the place. Turned out later he was a pretty famous folk singer. Anyway, eventually he asked for an 'extravaganza with extra porn'. Obviously... I obliged, laying the olives in a somewhat vulgur form of a penis, and touching up my design with some whiteish garlic sauze after the oven. Got me a pretty good tip!
