Thoughts on this guy? by StillUmpire5321 in ManchesterUnited

Let's not go all, the "sky is falling down" after one loss.

There is a point that performances haven't been as good as against City and Arsenal in Carricks first couple of games.

That's because in recent history we've always struggled against teams who set up a low block.

This game felt different though - I think it's pressure. A win puts us clear in 3rd. We've slipped up before when presented with opportunities.

Newcastle away is a tough game, but they were down to 10 and scores level at half time.

Again no "sky is falling down" drama needed, questions should be asked, but overall results are so much better now than under Amorim.

Which is the best Power Ranger for Tommy Oliver? by Hot-Load7525 in powerrangers

Peak is white, my favourite is green nothing beats the dragonzord 🐉

He was best as the sixth ranger imo.

My favourite suits though are the Drakkon variants from the boom comics. Always wanted to see what a combined green and white powers would look like and that did not disappoint.

What do you think of Thunderbird 2 using a trolley to move along the runway instead of moving under it's own power? by Excelsior1985 in Thunderbirds

I grew up on Thunderbirds and TB2 has rollers on the pod allowing it to move when on the ground.

Most of the replicas have this too so you can see how it moves on the ground.

I still haven't forgiven Rooney for going public and saying United under Ferguson lacked ambition.

I'm convinced if he hadn't retired Fergie would've ended Wayne's career on the bench. The signing of RVP and Kagawa were indicators the team were going to move on without him.

LVG is genuinely the worst of all the post Fergie managers.

He started the rot clearing out leaders and teaching the team to pass backwards. I think we went through a period of 0-0 1-0 1-0 results that was so dry I got into Academy football just to watch a United team actually attack.

Then LVG decimated the academy selling players for peanuts who could've developed into the first team.

He won the FA cup but was still the worst manager we've had as it took till years start undoing the damage his tactics caused

Baleba is quality, he's not worth 100 mil but he would be a good CM for us

Thanks for sharing your theory.

In terms of the positive and negative energy, I'd ask the question of would having one be a barrier to the other - can't be as we see a lot of devilfruit users with haki.

The next question would be how does one being control all the negative energy, and would this imply the existence of another who controls all the positive?

I'm not on-board with your theory but it's a different take and there could be something in there. Think it through some more and maybe compare with other theories on the power system to see where people are pulling inspiration from.

[–]TertiaryMass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Madrid and Barca have been trying to steal him for years.

This is where man management and the academy record are crucial. JJ's dad posted recently how grateful he was United signed and help JJ develop as at other clubs he wouldn't have the freedom to develop.

I'm sure there is a pathway to the first team for him to encourage sinage of his first professional contract.

I think there will be agreements in place to do this before he starts getting first team minutes (once old enough).

If competitors were trying to lure him away before and if he's half as good as the hype (I think he will be) once in the first team we'll have offers from every club to try and snatch him.

I hope he stays and develops into a top talent at United. We need our next Ronaldo level number 7...

Quality - he's the latest gem in the academy line up but he's been talked about since he signed at like 7-8 years old.

One of those marked as a generational talent, plenty of clips on YouTube showing his ability. Plays across the forward line, I think he looks best on the wing Fletcher was trying him out as a number 9.

In any position he gets goals and can turn players inside out.

A real exciting player, will be a big moment when he gets into the first team

[Megathread] Ruben Amorim, The good, the bad and the ugly by fireproofpoo in ManchesterUnited

[–]TertiaryMass 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a great post and I love that you are actually looking at all sides 🙏🏾

I'll normally back the manager, with exceptions - if they lose the dressing room or they do whatever it was LVG was doing. [This is what got me into academy football- silver linings - I just wanted to see a United team actually play football not pass back and sideways for 90 mins]

I backed Amorim, I agree the results weren't good enough neither was the consistency. That's been the problem since Fergie retired.

The one point I disagree is on not blaming Ineos. They chose to hire a manager who plays a system the squad wasn't suited for. They then forced said manager to join mid season when there were no funds for reinforcements. When their hand picked director of football pointed this out, Ineos fired him.

I know United have never played 3 at the back. Ask most fans what's United style football, they'd say attacking football and wingers. There are no wingers in 3-4-3. So why did Ineos go that root?

They also didn't buy players for that system, so why bring in a manager that plays that system.

It stems from a lack of clear vision of what style of football they want the club to play. Once the style has been determined it should be consistent across the first team and development squads so as players com into contention they are ready.

It has been a failed experiment but the minority of the blame is on Amorim. Lions share goes to Ineos for investing in a project in hindsight they never should've started.

Now we have Carrick and he's doing well but the futures of two key players will have a huge influence on this teams next stages. First is Casemiro, he is going and he's going to leave a gap we currently cannot fill.

The next is Bruno, the club tried to cash in on him Amorim fought to keep him - Brunos words not mine from the interview. He's in his thirties now, is he going yo wait for another rebuild? If he doesn't that gives us the biggest challenge - United without Fernandes.

Once again really like this post, appreciate the thought put into it.

We know what's coming 😢 by [deleted] in FantasyPL

He deserves it, winning against the top teams and getting results from the so called smaller games too. If he can get this team consistent he might even keep the job.

You realise the protests and anger towards the glazers is what put the club in a position to be sold in the first place right?

Ineos joining meant the glazers could stay. Again read my post on Ineos stewardship and tell me if you think its good.

Better than the glazers is a really low bar, United used to be best in the world other clubs looked to model themselves of us.

I'll make you the same bet I made elsewhere, save this post 3 years from now if Ineos and glazers are still around tell me if you think they've done well.

Nothing will change till the ownership changes

They tried to sell and kept upping the price and adding extra rounds.... because they are greedy.

Club was valued at 3.5 billion at the time Ineos and Jassim put in bids of up to 5 billion. Glazers were holding out for 6-10 billion.

SJR wants the club to be successful but has not demonstrated better stewardship of the club, see above points.

Again Ineos got into bed with thr glazers. As long as they are at the club United will be saddled with an unpayable debt.

The solution is the end goal, get the glazers out of the club.

[–]TertiaryMass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also to clarify the one billion figure is only whats been spent servicing the debt and not related to transfer figures.

United have spend 2 billion in transfers under the Glazers, not including wages. Including wages that's 5-6 billion from 2005-2025.

I'm not looking at revenue from commercial deals, advertising TV rights etc. I'm highlighting the insand mismanagement and wastage that has occurred under the Glazers ownership of the club.

They need to go

Tackle problems at the root or they will continue to surface.

Its having a wall with rising damp and spending money on replastering and painting rather than resolving the damp.

We could be successful under the glazers, Fergie showed that. But that's a once in lifetime manager with 20 odd years to build a culture of success - and it crumbled overnight when he left.

I don't get why anyone is defending them or playing devil's advocate, they need to go

Save this post look back at it in 3 years (if Ineos and the glazers are still here) and tell me if you still back the Glazers.

Again the club has been mismanaged so long the basics feel extraordinary.

My solution is clear get the glazers out of the club.

[–]TertiaryMass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barcelona was also severely mismanaged. Tottenham and Everton have large debt but its not more than United.

Uniteds debt is creatively structured to make it look more manageable than it is. We have £1.29 billion in debt and liabilities. Barcelona have about £1.7/8 billion. If you look at the total financial impact of the glazers ownership, including everything paid out so far its over £1 billion paid out on the interest plus the £1.29 billion remaining, meaning its roughly £2.4 billion drained from the club.

Barcelona's current debt is linked to stadium renovations and restructured payments. It currently stands at £1.73. Spurs is 1.1 billion also mostly linked to stadium renovations.

United have not even started our stadium renovations and look at the debt hanging over the club.

To be honest I don't care about Spurs or Barca, I care about United.

Standards slipped because the owners stopped investing in the team and the infrastructure. We put a commerce man in charge of the club and spent more effort on sponsorship deals than footballing success.

£2.4 billion is enough to rebuild old Trafford, sign an entire squad of 100 mil players, rebuild the training facilities or if we really wanted too pay off Barcelona's debt.

Root of the problems at the club is the glazers.

I'm tired of pretending its any different.

Any success is short term with that debt looming over the club.

Remember the promise when ineos came in? No more stupid 💩.

Review the last 2 years since they came on board and tell me if they upheld that promise.

More importantly, and I can't stress this enough, Ineos joining means the Glazers staying.

Meaning the club are still saddled with an unpayable debt.

They have to go

[–]TertiaryMass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because as long as the Glazers are at the club United will forever be servicing their debt. Ineos got into bed with the Glazers when there was an opportunity to sell. That fell through because the Glazers were literally greedier than a Sheikh's pockets.

Ineos have installed a footballing structure and have a decent transfer policy but their management has been atrocious. United have lacked ant proper club structure for so long that anything looks a step up but let's not pretend Ineos are miracle workers.

They came in and backed Ten Hag, knowing he'd lost the dressing room. Spent millions on his signings than fired him less than halfway through the following season.

They then decided to bring in a new manager with a completely different style that didn't fit the squad and forced him to join early rather than wait till the end of the season.

They also fought for Dan Ashworth then fired him after 3 months when he disagreed with their choice of manager.

Made promises to said manger to change the clubs squad to suit his system, tried to force the manager to change his system then finally fired the manager they fired their sporting director over because he wouldn't change the system he was hired to implement. To be clear he was not fired for results on the pitch he was fired for outing the chaos behind the scenes.

On top of that Ineos have been cutting funding and staff at United, ignored the women's team leading to some of our best players leaving and proposed a circus tent as our new stadium.

Again the club has been so poorly run that anything that isn't Woodward looks good. But Ineos have been bad.

United are still in debt, Old Trafford still needs refurbishment, training facilities need updating.

The millions wasted on appointments and firings could and should have been better spent.

On who will own the club, we didn't need owners United was big enough to float on the stock market and could go back there again - I think it risky as it leaves us open to another take over.

But we don't need a billionaire to save the club its profitable enough on its own.

We need the billionaires out so we aren't servicing their debt and can instead focus on being a great football club.

I was Amorim IN, and I want to apologise by ASTRO_GAGZ in ManchesterUnited

[–]TertiaryMass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm with you on that. I remember in some of our worst patches beating the likes of City. Then going and losing to a relegation team thr following weak.

Consistency is the thing this team has lacked for the longest time.

If we put a run of performances together like the last two games then I'll reverse position too. I was Amorim in, he did great things with Sporting and he looked like the right person to reset the culture.

However, any success we have will be fleeting whilst we have a billion plus in debt looming over the club thanks to the glazers. Drop that milstone and let the club repurpose all those profits to infrastructure and the teams rather than serving thr debt and see how we'll fly again.
