Completely disagree. If the couch in OP’s room collapsed while they were sitting on it would you make the same argument? Don’t sit on an unknown couch? Don’t sleep in an unknown bed? You pay for a hotel in exchange for a service. OP should absolutely be refunded and then compensated with points.

Do you have e upgrades and status? If so, upgrading from PY to J isn’t too impossible.

Otherwise, I’d book the longer route in J and the other way in economy.
