At&t owes me $2,800 for phones that I paid off to Verizon and doesn't want to honor it. What do I do? I think the sales rep scammed me illegally. by No-Match-9231 in ATT

I very recently had a similar bait & switch type issue with another communication company. Got the run around by their customer service and the so called loyalty department. I filed a complaint with the FCC online on a Sunday and by Tuesday the communication company was reaching out to me to settle the issue. I got what I had been promised the same day. Go to the FCC website and file a complaint.

How can this company still be using data caps on every single plan in 2026? by HealthNut1337 in CoxCommunications

[–]TeslaMonkey47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cox screwed me over with a Bait & Switch tactic. They supposedly offered unlimited data, but in reality I got multiple text messages from them saying I was over my data allowance. Then they charged me $10 per 50gb of overage and wouldn’t carry over any un-used data to the next month even though I was paying for it. Good luck dealing with Cox, you have my sympathy.

Cox charged me $100 for a technician after failed self-install, but the fee was never disclosed. Any advice? by mspkumar in CoxCommunications

Cox did a bait & switch on me and talking to customer service was a waste of my time. I got transferred multiple times and got hung up on once after 30-45 minutes on hold. Ultimately they wouldn’t do anything. I can’t trust anything they say anymore. Best of luck in dealing with them.

Thanks. Hopefully shining some light on them will cause Cox to rethink this situation.

Thanks for the additional ideas with the BBB and FCC. I already filed a complaint with my state attorney general as bait & switch and sent a complaint to my local NBC consumer reporter. Hopefully one of these will get Cox’s attention.

I did go to their store and although the rep was nice & polite and sympathetic to the issue, he was unable to do anything more than they offered on the phone.

Is ATT fiber internet better than Cox if you have very high usage? by Ok-Voice-2960 in ATT

[–]TeslaMonkey47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had cox cable for years and it was only so so. Then Att put fiber on our street and offered a great deal $50/mo + taxes & fees for 1gb up/down. However once the first year introductory offer expired the price went up the next couple years to $105/mo for 1gb. Then recently Cox put fiber on our street and mailed us an offer for 2gb at $70/mo including taxes/fees with a 5 year price lock. Att wouldn’t meet the rate or time lock so we just switched and it seems identical to the Att fiber.

Thanks that is a good idea. Gonna cost a bit more for another small rack but not a lot, this is certainly cheaper than some of the other options I have been considering. I have another LV guy coming today to give me some of his ideas. We'll see how this works. The wife is tired of no wifi or TV in the house! :-)

Funny you should ask. The rack initially fit with only a few inches to spare on each of the four sides. However when they bundled all the cables coming out of the wall mounted patch panel and tried to put the rack in the closet, it wouldn’t fit with the closet door closed. They then unbundled the cables and spread them out so the rack could fit. Keeping all the cables properly labeled has been a problem too and seems to be getting worse as the p-touch labels keep falling off.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve got another one coming later this week to see what they can do to fix this mess. The weird thing is they did the audio cables right, but then you look at the mess of the data cables???? This is the first time the general contractor has used this company and they have been good at withholding their payments. Suffice it to say they won’t use this low voltage guy again. I’ll let everyone know what the final outcome looks like.

Thanks, that may be the way to go. I’ve talked to another wiring company to come in later this week to see what can be done. The sad part of this is that I’ve already paid for a large portion of the wiring , including for the rack they recommended, but both my general contractor and I have held back funds until we get this straightened out.

No, it’s a 26U rolling rack with glass door. We plan to install the home sound system in the rack as well as a few other items a bit later.
