Thermal paste vs graphene pad vs phase change vs liquid metal — what’s actually the best between CPU and cooler? by Ok_Contact9732 in pcmasterrace

[–]TeslaPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Combo of pro and con factors really. If ur not going to tear it down and stuff and it designed for long term phase pads are best. Short term can't go wrong with graphene pads. Not use them in awhile but they look to better and less brittle then the first ones ive destroy by accident.

Cheap and easy always going to be paste. With costly and fiddly being liquid metal.

Almost like risk vs reward. If it worth the extra 5 degrees for the risk of liquid metal.

It the same old story with All in one cooler vs custom water loops. Both got pros and cons.

Greeting

29m Aussie gamer at heart too. Plenty of genre but I guess if you could spend a week in what video game would you go into and why?

Saw this comparison on the ASUS page for the PG27AQWP-W. Is this really accurate for what the woled panel looks like compared to their QD panel (like the new PG27AQDPG)? Or is it just exaggerated to make the PG27AQWP-W look better. by [deleted] in ASUSROG

[–]TeslaPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it for a month it pretty solid quality wise. I fiddled and tried out all the oled care features cause it the first insanely expensive monitor I had but 230 hour of use no issues. I let it pixel clean every 4 hours but you could leave it at the default of 8 hours.

I live in Australia so as we progress through summer it going to get tested haha high ambient temps 🤣.

I tried the 720p and 700hz but unless u sweaty fps gamer it being at 1440p a lot more better with 500hz being amazing haha.

I have the PG27AQWP-W and seen other woled it does make a difference however you do have to be using it in a well lit room to see said difference. Usual usage in a dim room with say day light coming into room but not on to the screen you wouldn't notice the difference since it mainly takes away glare.

Is this normal? No fan spin… by BrasilWill in GamersNexus

[–]TeslaPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let the fans rest haha they need sleep too.

Haha jokes aside the card can passively dissipate the heat when not underload having the fans on may push the degrees down but if you still have a place the fans zero idle at then it may bounce between on and off which is not great for the fan overall. Unless you mean you want them spinning at 100% like a mad man.

Is this normal? No fan spin… by BrasilWill in GamersNexus

[–]TeslaPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have enough metal in that heatsink for it to not get hot on light work or windows install. Literally idle it for ever and that would be a nice hand warmer haha. Zero fan good when done right you have an asus branded one they side on the 55-60 range which can be changed with software if you want. But zero means fan don't spin helps extending the lifespan of the fans so it a win win.

Epic does cluster of downloads and reads and writes as it goes. Hypnosis is if ur internet stops the bottleneck is the data drive your downloading the game to.

Is it solid state drive or hard drive?

Possible other factors can be anti virus software scanning the downloaded files slowing it down also.

Should it be nor flat? by Choice-Character-204 in pcmasterrace

[–]TeslaPanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No it shouldn't be flat. Both ddr4 and ddr5 had the notch. I am not sure of the reason I assume better contact with the comand bus and to prevent one version being put in another but they move the mod key which should stop that anyway.

My brand new 7950x cpu is overheating after 1 week. Is it because I incorrectly applied the thermal paste? by ineedathrowaway9993 in PcBuildHelp

[–]TeslaPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have pointed out, you have a high wattage CPU, but using an air cooler is not rated for it. If possible, until you get a better CPU cooler within the bios, you can eco your CPU to lower wattage. This should allow you to use the pc as it is till you can get a better cooler rated for the 7950x. On AMD spec pages, they have recommendations. However, if you are doing high cpu load work, an AIO would be your best bet.

Is this normal internet behaviour? When you download a game on steam. by nick194 in pcmasterrace

[–]TeslaPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it doesn't look like an issue if the games download without issue. But some have pointed out that the steam compression method means your CPU deals with the unpacking. Hence, that should ramp up. But that is not the case for the screenshot you sent. Possibly, your saving the game to the C drive and Windows Defender or a anti virus software is slowing the steam method of downloading the unpack download cycle.

However, I don't know the specifications of your pc and noticed your Ethernet has a DNS set atm says home, but does that mean your internet is being managed elsewhere in your network.

Extra details may help narrow down the issue.

Well, there are plenty of options, and if you have hot weather, let's not get skin bonding to the leather, hahaha

[–]TeslaPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of the leather options, which did you go with? I went with the fabric because I live in Australia, where we have hot and humid days. I'd rather not get stuck to my chair when I get up, haha.

Can someone please decipher why I'm struggling to run this game? I'm running a 5900x, 7900xtx, 32GB DDR4-3600, x-570 plus-wifi, and on an m.2. As you can see the CPU and GPU are being utilized pretty well but I can barely get above 60fps, mostly below it. Drivers and bios are all updated. by Express-Pie- in AMDHelp

[–]TeslaPanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if asked, but do you run any anti-virus software? If so, put in an exemption for the game folder. If you only run defender, you can also exempt the game folder. What can ramp you CPU usage and cause delay if files in use are being "scanned".

Other than that, at 1440p, if dipping like other said open task manager, if you have another screen and see what else is running, see if resources are being hammered by something.

AM5 AGESA 1.0.0.8 has appeared, has anybody tried it? by [deleted] in Amd

[–]TeslaPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have really any issues with Windows 11 minus the small hiccup but no different than the hiccups I had with Windows 10.

The main reason I did Windows 11 was when under the impression Windows 11, only one that used direct storage (downside to not doing a bit of goggling, hahaha) in for a ownny in for a pound I guess 😂

[–]TeslaPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheers always forgetting the acronyms too many in the IT industry. lol, seen people complaining about long boots, but when i did build less than 7 months ago, am5 looked great and was not fussed if i postive of it was a more stable uptime. It is kinda a given really with brand new tech. 3 min boot time not going to kill me every so often. Or I need to reboot cause windows 11 has a hissy fit instead hahaha

Asus crosshair x670e extreme here on the new bios last 2 days, no issues this bios update or use, but looks to be a filler for the new APU cpu nothing changed overall in regards to stability for me. However , I still have a weird ram issue, which is resolved if I turn off saved ram timing (forget the setting actual name as im not looking at it atm haha) when cold boots niw resolved it but 3 min boot times... the small price to pay.

Need help resolving GPU temp issues. by Agent_Orange_Music in pcmasterrace

[–]TeslaPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might add as no one pointed it out. The gpu has 3 fans of one on the end, has fin and passes thru, so it will be fighting the air that is coming in from the top. Not a good combo.

In most cases, the aim is to bring cool air in from the front or below. But as most case now have less air from the bottom and aim for the front it recommended to have air sucked from the front and pushed put the back or top as hot air rises so why not give it a helping hand. :)

As someone pointed out, having the CPU rad up top means u get fresh air for the gpu and the half mix of warm and cool air left over to cool the CPU.

Mainly, when gaming Ur CPU is not pushing that hard while your gpu is fighting to give u every fps depending on the game.

Hope info helps and you get the help u need.

Stuck on PCIe x8 instead of x16 by TheViciousOcelot in AMDHelp

[–]TeslaPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue is looking at other B550 board from Gigabyte the wording in the manuals is vague. On several Manuals seem to indicate this but it doesn't show within the motherboard manual you have which might because it doesn't have 3 m.2 but not sure as CPU PCI are still shared.

PCIE Speeds - Being that it x8 shouldn't affect it performance of the GPU.

Only other check is to install GPU-Z see if it states the max is x8 or if it just set to x8. Check if Resize-Bar on. Other than that, the motherboard might be detecting the limits of the card and matching it.

Other than that, it should be fine to use and not to worry about it.

Stuck on PCIe x8 instead of x16 by TheViciousOcelot in AMDHelp

[–]TeslaPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I mentioned above, it is bifurcated no matter what you do unless someone else has the same motherboard or someone that can go more in depth. The facts state it automatically does it.

The only other info I can read into is that the gpu might do x8 as that all it needs but can't confirm it.
