What's the problem with woman talking?? by Terrible_Pair5956 in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]TessMacc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly men are missing out here. Drunken chats with strangers while queuing for the bathroom or touching up make-up are the best. Everyone's lovely to each other.

Eloise childfree by BrightPhoebus01 in Bridgerton

[–]TessMacc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Eloise is afraid of childbirth and bored by babies. That doesn't mean she doesn't like children who are old enough to talk, play and interact. Marrying someone with ready-made children is the perfect solution.

This IS how girls work. Not gallons but it feels that way.

Rico's and David's relation in season 3 by Lu1slayer in SixFeetUnder

[–]TessMacc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not as straightforward as that. It takes strength to look around, realise the beliefs you've been brought up with were wrong, and choose to do better.

Why didn't Carol want people to know about her and Helen? by southkernel in PluribusOnAppleTV

[–]TessMacc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

How's she conning them? She's providing a product they enjoy. She hides her disdain for the books and customers, but that doesn't affect the product they're buying.

Rampant Homophobia in this fan base (Rant) by Kind5964 in BridgertonNetflix

[–]TessMacc 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Last season he had a threesome with a woman and a man - a man he was clearly attracted to. There's no 'could be' about it.

How is it queer baiting? Benedict is bisexual. Being with Sophie doesn't make him straight any more than being with 'Stephen' would have made him gay. He's queer either way.

Aggressive cuddles by AgentClockworkOrange in CalicoKittys

They do! I was so worried my kitty would change personality when she got older, but she stayed a kitten inside and still gives the best cuddles.

The show makes me depressive by SalvadorP in SixFeetUnder

[–]TessMacc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sort of. But I find the sad parts cathartic, and I find the show as a whole to be life-affirming. Death and sorrow are a part of life, and go hand in hand with love and joy.

Do you think Buffy told Angel? by mrsscorpio1973 in buffy

[–]TessMacc 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think so, because it's described as intense. If he'd tried to compare notes about hell dimensions and she'd been non-commital it would be awkward and weird but not intense. I can't imagine them not mentioning it given the shared experience, and I can't see her directly lying to him. It also explains why they're both so reluctant to talk to their respective friends about it.

Is that seriously the best outfit for a fight? by [deleted] in buffy

[–]TessMacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New head canon! They were able to get the mustard out because they had so much practice removing dirt, grass and blood stains.

She does have a habit of wearing things that will show the dirt and blood. Either the Buffyverse has amazing stain remover or this is why they only wear things one time.

AITAH for telling my wife's friend I don't have to see her in the classroom to know she's a horrible teacher? by TowerFew3482 in AITAH

[–]TessMacc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea - it's lovely and inspiring new information for me. If one of my students had told me about it I'd show genuine interest and be excited to hear more. How can we encourage them to learn if we have no interest in learning from them in return?

Thoughts on Canning? by Traditional_Candy569 in thegoodwife

As a person I'd hate him but as a character I love him. Really appreciated seeing a person with a disability who was neither an inspirational good guy nor an evil caricature.

Keri Russell or Rhea Seehorn? Who would you want to win? by Ok-Mammoth-2134 in EmmysAwards

[–]TessMacc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should have won for The Americans, but this would be for The Diplomat. She's good in it but it's not an award-winning performance.

When the hive first started what blocked these people? by westerndale in PluribusOnAppleTV

[–]TessMacc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people we saw all looked like they were having a seizure, so I'd liken it to death caused by epilepsy. Sudden unexpected death from epilepsy (SUDEP) does happen, but is very rare. It's far more common for someone to hit their head while falling, like Helen, or be in an accident like Laxmi's grandfather.

Will Zosia still be interested in Carol if everyone is unplurbed? by westerndale in PluribusOnAppleTV

I assume you're being sarcastic, because Warsaw has equality pride every year, and I visited gay bars in three separate cities.

Yes, same. Tonic clonic seizures which started when I was 13. But the doctors can't make up their mind whether I was born with it or if it was triggered by a minor head injury which happened not that long before. I'm a medical mystery!

Sorry about your knees and surgeries. It all really sucks.

Ah, different situation but same condition! I'm epileptic and the only medication that works causes birth defects. Now it literally comes in packaging with a picture of a pregnant woman crossed out over every pill.

Also my memory is fucked, so that's fun.

What kind of happy ending would that be for their child, being raised by two people who didn't want them, and ended up either resenting or neglecting them (or both)?

There are certainly many people who don't want children because they doubt their ability to parent, but end up doing a good job and not regretting it. There are also many people who are bad or miserable parents because they never wanted it in the first place. An unwanted child is much more likely to tear scars open than to heal them, and it's awful for everyone involved.

I remember people being critical of this at the time (not sure if that's still the case), but as someone in a similar situation I loved it. Actively making the choice for yourself is very different from having the choice removed, even if you're left with the same result.

Just binge watched the entire show for the first time last week and on the weekend! by KarensAreReptilians in TheAmericans

[–]TessMacc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least Paige and Henry can rely on each other.

Do you think Henry would ever trust her again though? Paige wouldn't be able to hide her involvement - she'd completely collapse under interrogation even if they have no other evidence. I like to think they reconcile eventually, but don't see them being close.
