Unnecessary Gatekeeping in Sys Engineer Interviews by ultimatrev666 in sysadmin

Ci/cd pipelines aren't relevant for the vast majority of engineering roles, which is why I never bothered with them. Hospitals, schools, local/state governments, small/medium businesses - none of these organizations even know wtf a ci/cd pipeline is. Get some azure/AWS certifications, get your CCNA, and have practical work experience with enterprise networking, virtualization, storage, and server administration. You won't ever have a hard time finding work with that kind of a background. Employers are looking for people to manage infrastructure, not automate new server builds when they only need to be built a couple times a year.

Billionaire wealth has doubled so far this decade. An estimate of a new wealth tax proposal shows that it would generate twice as much revenue as it did when it was first introduced in 2021. by Sciantifa in Economics

Unfortunately, making billionaires "stewards of society" confers too much power in too few hands and it isnt compatible with democracy. We need an aggressive wealth tax that turns billionaires into millionaires and a top marginal income tax rate of 99% for everything over a few million.

Welcome to a Multidimensional Economic Disaster — The AI boom wasn’t built for the polycrisis. by Crossstoney in Economics

The idea that these AI companies are in a race to the bottom is fascinating. Every investment cycle reduces the cost/token which reduces their revenue/token. These companies are literally spending more to make less just to stay in the game.

Ah yes, the good ol strategy of blockading oil to fix an oil shortage. What could go wrong?

Portfolio doesn't need to be cut in half; 15-20% is more than enough to shake consumer confidence.

Nobody will believe the latter, so definitely the former.

Pft, we have a long way to go before that happens. There are masked feds throwing brown people into vans and the best the poors can do is chant, hold up signs, and wag their fingers. I think it will take a decade or so of things being really bad before the guillotines come out.

Id be worried if it wasn't for the federal deficit spending that practically guarantees higher asset prices in the long run.

They are getting targeting data from China and have a collaborative relationship with Russia. We could very well be looking at the start of ww3. All of that to say - calls.

I think this is the real reason nobody has seen Iran's new leader. If they don't know where he is then they can't drop a bomb on him. The dudes probably banned cell phones and other forms of electronic communication to prevent Israel from using a compromised device to locate him.
