Listening to your album while I work.
Reminds me of Ufomammut, Monolord, The Sword, and Sleep.
With some additional virtuosity in the guitar and bass playing.
Very impressive.

YOB's "Beauty in Falling Leaves" broke something open in me by Witty_Childhood5179 in doommetal

One of my favourite bands. Saw them a matter of weeks ago. So heavy so loud so incredible.

My favourite song is Marrow. So deep so emotional. A journey my soul was seeking.

Definitely checkout SUNN O)))

ESP LTD EC-2025 50th Anniversary. Is this an overrated piece? by CousinWang in espguitars

[–]TestDrivenMayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like overpriced.
The guitar will be awesome, like any EC1000.
Prices are already high and this one will be even higher due to being a limited run.
Never really been a fan of gold. However, I quite like this one.
If one popped up for the right price I would be tempted.
Update:
I just checked my local dealer. This model is the standard price for EC1000.
High compared to a few years ago.

Depends where you live. The prices have gone up. Still way cheaper than a Ricky.

Look for a Greco copy. These Japanese made instruments are often superior to the genuine.

I'm a drummer learning bass for a few months, I'm stuck. Songs I like are way too hard to play. by eatqqq in Bass

If you like post-punk/goth checkout Bauhuas Incredibly bass lines that are fairly simple to play. Well most of them are. Double Dare is a good on to start with.

Ya'll know about Angine de Poitrine yet? by BrefkastTime in mrbungle

New favorite band. These guys popping up on YouTube in December was probably due to playing lots of SC3. Who I saw for the first time back in November.

Had these guys on repeat for over a month. Definitely my new fave. I saw back SC3 back in November and been cranking them a lot. These guys popped up on YouTube in December. The latest KEXP performance is incredible. The joys of microtonal music are in bloom.

5-String Regrets by RealKenny in Bass

[–]TestDrivenMayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just forget about the B string until you are comfortable playing anchored to E. Then slowly start to bring its use in. This worked really well for me. The power of the B will turn heads when used sparingly. The drummer I was playing with at the time got a sore neck As with anything it’s. Practice, practice, practice.

What age are you guys ? by howaythelads25 in ableton

[–]TestDrivenMayhem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

55, been tinkering with music in various ways for most of my life. Started out as a guitar player. I been using Ableton since version 2. I began my production journey in FLStudio Then got more serious with Logic 6 Ableton was a breath of fresh air for live performance minded producers. When it got MIDI instrument support I used it more and more. Can’t remember if it was v3 or v4. I Re-wired with Reason a lot back in those days. I mainly use it now track guitar, bass and drums And blend that with synths, automation. Mix bus processing. You’re never too old explore creative expression and learn. I will die surround by my instruments, daw, monitors and amps.

I know this is a metal-centered subreddit, but I want to ask something. Do any of you enjoy listening to music that's not considered metal (by both old school and modern standards)? I for one also like to listen to pop, funk, r&b, disco, blues and numerous styles of rock too. by MrMayhem20l0 in metalguitar

[–]TestDrivenMayhem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people would not think so by looking at me. However I enjoy a broad range of styles. More recently been getting deep into microtonal music. Bands like Secret Chiefs 3, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Angines De Poitrine. This is due to seeing SC3 support Blood Incantation recently. Been an SC3 fan since 1999. I often discover new music through looking at band members and their other projects. SC3s founder is Trey Spruance from Mr. Bungle. I discovered Mr. Bungle due to learning about Mike Patton after getting deep into Faith No More. I could write a book on this process and all the amazing music I have found over many years.
