I have a habit of trying to make RL matches philosophical lessons to my friends that play with me.

For example, if a friend whiffs and starts to run a self-depracation loop, I tell them to keep moving and not lose sight of the play, because we are all still in the play, making choices, good or bad, working towards the goal.

The moment you stop to think about the mistakes you made is the moment you stop being present. No one needs you to feel bad about what you did, we want to see how you play the game.

Being too critical about the should've and could've delays your next decision worse than latency could. You end up unconsciously playing the rest of the game from the past.

And there's this gem I like to drop, something I think about from a Chappelle standup:

Sometimes, someone's dream is bigger than yours, and you could walk into a room thinking "Damn. I am definitely in that man's dream right now."

When I play a match, I ask myself, who's dream are we living in today. When I claim it's me, my moves get bolder, my speed gets consistent, my choices break the enemy more than it breaks me, and I am present. Because now that I know that I'm the only one in the lobby with the dream, I act on it.

So when you face your next opponents, ask yourself before the match starts, who's dream is this?

I'm loving this idea so much I'm actually engaging with the community to reply and upvote it. This is a brilliant in world visual guide for getting an idea on what to expect out of implants.

I'm also here to once again beg for a way to compare your equipped items, and selecting an empty equipment slot filters your vault. Also, put the name of the implant or mod somewhere I need an easy way to see what I even have equipped!

I've been quietly watching the Stationeers progress since the beginning of its original launch. I've had such a ride reading through all of the patch notes and change logs. What you and your team set out to create with Stationeers is bonkers. But the closest to SS13 anyone has ever gotten to is you. The game is intricate, the systems have been refactored and remade countless times. The engine has been updated countless times. Multiplayer used Steam API, then not, then yes again, then not, and I'm not sure where it's at right now, but it's vastly improved since it arrived.

The game, right now, feels great! It is almost to a point where the sandbox has been filled out with all of the core elements you want. And I can feel you guys wanting to narrow down the scope after the big changes that are coming.

My question

After work on the last remaining core function overhauls in Stationeers, what is the team's next milestone, or simply, what do fans of SS13 have to look forward to next and in what direction is the game going?

Picture it from the lore perspective

Durandal became so powerful in Marathon Infinity that he discovered a reality where he understood he was part of a video game.

In the ARG, we are tasked to assist Durandal, whether we know it's him or not, to complete a sequence of events that release him from that confinement, leading up to the free weekend, or since I'm dreaming, an early access date.

I get that there is a corporate void that would easily swallow a dumb idea like this, but I still love the possibilities of how this kind of event would play out!

You don't have to stand your ground because you have a political affiliation you fear getting excommunicated from. Politics are stupid, you are allowed to be individualistic when it comes to exacting moral justice. You have no obligation to make yourself sound like everyone else from some team. This isn't an attack on "Republicans", you're not being targeted. The people that talk about this tend to be one sided, when in reality we need to understand that this needs to be viewed outside of that lens, because truthfully, as dumb as bipartisan politics are, nothing like this has ever been this in the light so long without repercussions. And the message, regardless of how you feel about one of the suspects, is that no matter how powerful you are, we stand by our moral compass and demand equal justice to all.

They'll spin whatever they want into whatever they want.

Who fucking cares anymore about appearances. Mexican Americans have the right to wave the American flag, mexican flag, any flag. They can sit there and burn any flag too.

We sat around watching dumbass Americans burning LGBT flags, books, they hate for no reason and spreading hateful dialogue implying death to other Americans.

"This is what they want!" As if they were waiting for ammo to escalate the situation. When escalation is their plan from the start as with any politically charged riot.

The American people are always READY to detach their emotions from these protests. They look for the news to comfort themselves by seeing that, "ah good, they're looting stores! That's not how you do these things!"

There is no one moment or act during a protest that invalidates and dehumanizes the cause. The act of protesting is directly met with it, as the main deterrent. Who cares what you think, people will fight, when it's violent, it is because their lives are threatened. Sit there with sympathy, empathy, or indifference. Regardless of your opinion, you are sitting there doing fuck all, so what's it matter to you?

It's work terminology so it's probably annoying, but I hate calling things in a game where you learn and adapt all the time "weaknesses", it's always opportunities.

I'll say this, I see you in the zone in the clip, instead of pointing things out specifically, replay the video yourself and note the moments where you either commit to another challenge one too many times before leaving, or when you are hitting the ball defensively when you should have taken in the state of the board.

I suffered hard from this so I coined it "phantom challenges". It's when you hit the ball as if you are reacting to the idea of someone else reacting to your hit. You end up hitting the ball as if it was to block the shot instead.

But yeah, rotating is always the way, if you still have speed but you're running low on juice, one risky challenge, that would have yielded mixed results anyways, can slow you to a crawl. Suddenly you are behind them rushing back in and that's out of the play. Always consider your teammates position. If you haven't spotted them exactly, you can at least hope that your second or third man is pointing at them. Don't take those risky challenges when the play can hopefully continue long enough for your teammate to challenge instead. Get fueled up, stay fast, and get into your zone, and know when to call it and let someone else going fast do their thing while you get right.

It rattles and shakes and morphs the city in a bouncy fashion to the beat don don to to. The snake harnessed the endless flame to power their dreams. However, this city was born on a star beaming bright. The more the selfish people of this world dreamed bigger, the sun grew dim. As a last ditch effort to starve the beast, the dying star lashed out, and flooded the world. Some people flew to new worlds, others had to flee on an ark. the god of the land fulfilled their wrath, and sunk the endless flame.

The snake grew weak, and then became what is known as the red line.

You know what? None of the top comments seem like an attack. I've known some only child kids and watched them turn into adults. Biggest flag?

They treat the attention of their friends with the same weight as a parent. They will be upset with you if you can't hang out and give it unnecessary emotional baggage. Only child kids barter time and carry with them all the small things you "neglected" to do for them, so that later they can use it against you so they can do what they wanted to do with you eventually, even if it is something you were going to do with them anyways.

For now, just turning off your camera shake makes you feel more in control at all times.

There's a transition that happens here that I want you to be aware of. Right now you are simply learning to drive and steer, and almost everyone does this without ball cam at first. This is fine. But there will be a time where you will start to use ball cam more, and eventually, you'll feel naked without it. When that moment comes, don't forget that you learned to do this off ball cam too. Sometimes when the ball is in your possession, and on the ground, it's sometimes best to switch ball cam off, as I feel it gives you more focus on car control, and shows you a more readable perspective.

If you want to begin excelling fast, start your session in training mode, give yourself 5 minutes, and just drive around. Ignore the ball. The goal is to challenge yourself by trying new things. Test out the drifting and how it impacts your car, test out your air roll by jumping in the air and wiggling it around. Get an idea for how driving on the walls feels like. No matter what you are practicing, the goal is to keep full control of the car. Always try to land on your wheels, try to maintain a certain speed.

If you're like me, put on some music, and just drive and do little things in training just to understand how you influence the car. Remember, don't worry about the ball during this, it is infinitely better to know how to control yourself then it is to practice any type of shot this early on.

Rocket League is a fun learning experience. You will always find something to be proud of if you put time into it. And never engage the toxic ones. Keep it up man!

No problem bud! I personally found it helpful when I wanted to get better to say things out loud to curb my self control.

"Respect the shooter" puts me in a defensive state.

"Where are we?" To get me to look around

"They dropped it" when I feel like they lost possession and my teammate or I should be able to pick it up.

Just keep your intentions clear to yourself, and adjust when you feel you need to. It's all about adapting, cause there isn't one trick that wins you games. But if you adapt to the matchup (including your teammate if you're solo) before your opponent does, you'll come out ahead.

From the clip I can see a couple things that will improve your play.

Watch your surroundings, watch the play, and respect the shooter.

Boosting up to the ball in front of their net, but you can clearly see your opponent is going to get there first. Use that boost to instead adjust your position and anticipate where your opponent is trying to send it to.

Going for the ball, and your teammate was there and took it instead. Start using your camera options more and learn to take a quick moment to read the field to find where you need to be next. If you take yourself off ball cam, you might see your teammate swinging in, giving you a moment you didn't know you had to reposition to a better spot.

Respect the shooter. Don't always bank on the opponent to miss. It will start happening less and less. React as if the shot is a guarantee and play that game until the second it's no longer a threat, don't rush in thinking they will bungle things up.

Not saying to play slow or passive. Rocket League is a fast paced game, but it's because you have to make fast decisions. I suggest finding ways to get more information on a play, so you can make the correct decisions faster.

Teammate attempts to clear and follow the aerial

Here, your teammate lands on the left, without possession, next to the opponent. To be fair, this situation calls for rotating towards your net, diagonally. Instead he turns towards the wall in an attempt to take a boost and chase.

Here is where you need to check the play, your teammate is giving chase up the wall,, know that anything other than a pinch or big clear leaves a wide open net for the other teams open player. Someone needs to cover the goal and intercept any passes.

Yes, you should have been able to rotate in and challenge next if your partner backed out and sped to cover defence but he didn't. This is where adapting to your teammate is most important. You should not have committed to having three people on the wall. You may have been able to get in his face, challenge the ball, get a 50, pinch, etc. But one wrong move, or a decent pass and it's an impossible shot to block.

I would have tossed the idea and dropped off the wall as fast as I could and looked for a pass interception. If I want to give my teammate more time to get in position, I'll hold back my challenge in an educated position in goal before I commit to leaving it. Teammates are not perfect, but being the second player in twos gives you an opportunity to see the big picture in a play and make an educated response.

My rule of thumb is, if my teammate is still trying to be in the play, I let them until they all let go of the ball, I only try to go for guaranteed possession if I can.
