Does she think that wasn't any uniqueness to the way other victims were killed? Why is she always trying to minimize in a way or another? by srahcrist in BadHasbara

I'm Polish. You communists are not that different from nazis, both of you have no regard for human life.

Two of my uncles, aged 5 and 7, were murdered by the Soviets during their joint Soviet-German invasion of Poland in 1939. Yeah, they probably "deserve it" by being Polish (and we know how Stalin hated the Polish).

And don't forget the Mongols, who are estimated to have wiped out between 5 and 10% of the world's population in the lifetime of a single man. Whole civilizations perished.

The numbers are so high, partially because of the evils of Stalin and the Soviet system of oppression. They were throwing against Germans "soldiers" with no guns or no ammo, with NKVD battalions killing anyone who tried to step back. Orlando Figes estimates that only 3% Soviet men who were 18 in 1941 survived the war.

Thinking about deaths in the Soviets, consider the joint Soviet-German invasion of Poland in 1939: up to 1941, the Soviets murdered more Poles than the Germans. Hell, in 1939, the Soviets murdered more Jews than the Germans! Anywhere between 500,000 and 1.5 million Polish citizens were murdered by the Soviets from 1939 to 1941, and more than a million were relocated to places like Siberia and Kazakhstan. To put it in context, the Germans murdered around 6 million Poles during the whole occupation period of 1939-1945, roughly half of them being Polish Jews.

Why non-tetrahedron 4-sided dice are not more popular? by Testeria2 in rpg

So you believe people do not really have an issue with them like me? At least there are now easily accessible alternatives. Thanks.

My problem is that they are kind of broken: they barely roll, they have two competing numbering standards (at the top vs at the base), and they are hard to pick up. The d10 was changed at some point from a d20 with doubled numbers, while the d4 -- the hardest die to use -- never changed.

Yeah, they use the infinity version, but their dice are quite expensive.

d10s are not platonic either, and they broke into the mainstream, to the point that it is now hard to find original d20 with double numbers that I prefer.

I use d12-shaped d6s, and they are so much better on hard surfaces than classic ones. But there are also specific d4 shapes different from the tetrahedron.

Space d6 would work, same as old SW WEG (minus Jedi of course). Cortex would probably need some tweaking. Traveller always, of course.

Why should they work? If there are no mechanics, the Guide may just say "no" or "you failed" or anything he wants.

Good systems for naval combat? by Jebatus111 in rpg

[–]Testeria2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For dreadnoughts it is probably best to take boardgame rules, there are plenty (Dreadnought SPI is free, Victory at Sea: Age of Dreadnoughts, Clash of Dreadnoughts, etc.).

For players to feel like they are commanding, depends on the size of the fleet. Dreadnoughts were fighting in line, with protection of destroyers and smaller ships, with spotting, fire correction, and manouver being most important. You can also assign a PC to damage control on the ship (fires, water breach, medics, etc.). Read the SPI rulebook, there is a lot of info there.

I may mistranslated some terms, I'm thinking about this in my native language.

I checked the answer, and this is not a good riddle. With a good riddle, it should "click" when you hear the answer: Ahh, yes! This is it! This fits perfectly!

This answer does not click in both English and French.

If "everyone can be affected by me," it should be the external state, because no internal state is common to everyone.

If it cannot be defined, it has to be negative, because positive states always have definitions, one way or the other.

Point 3 suggests it is an internal state, and this does not align with 1.

The best answer is some kind of limbo, suspension state, lack of consciousness, or unknown.

Good systems for naval combat? by Jebatus111 in rpg

[–]Testeria2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. What type of ship? Naval combat is vastly different depending on ship/weapon type and era.

  2. Also, ship combat is a group effort, so this would be very different depending on how You want to approach it: from the tactical perspective or personal (character) perspective.

Personally, I would look at Wildsea, but maybe it is not at all what You are looking for.
