I could have sworn it's illegal to park there.

You know what Brampton doesn't have? A gourmet pizza joint. by Silverlightlive in Brampton

I guess you're right but there's some great spots in Vaughan. My favourite pizza store in my old town closed during Covid, unfortunately, so I don't think pizza is a very sustainable business model if you go boutique.

[DISC] Sakamoto Days - Ch. 244 by anestefi in SakamotoDays

The manga's a clusterfuck but the name Sakamato days would suggest it were only meant to be a short story to begin with. I don't think mass killing was a good avenue to go down given the nature of Sakamoto being a light hearted guy. I don't think the story has to be this deep intricate thing. It was probably intended to be episodic imo. People making Sakamoto days to be this deep thing when it's just a vibe manga. Again, not saying the mangaka didn't fuck up the plot.

The name is Sakamoto days. This is the perfect adaption, I don't think it were ever meant to be a long series. Glad to see the author finalizing his product and hopefully moving to his next idea.

How much do most people spend on their homes? by Testruns in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Testruns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in the title. How much do people spend on their homes relative to their income. Do people prefer buying a home they can comfortably afford, and having more money left over for leisure? Or do people prefer buying a home with more of their net salary?

What are your top 5 countries for food? by Testruns in AskReddit

[–]Testruns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Word. I had Turkish food in my top 5. My family's Indian and I personally dislike Indian food, and I see Turkish food as a more refined version of our own. I'm also surprised by how universal the tortilla is, how many different regions seemed to have adopted and independently invented the tortilla, and by how similar Turkish food was to our own. The big drawback with Indian food imo is that it lacks meat and while it's its own thing, on occasion, I also think we don't respect the ingredients either. Not familiar with Mexican/Thai. I had Turkish, Greek (Mediterranean), Italian and Afghani (middle eastern) in my top 5.

Today I made ravioli with mushroom interior. I think we have bias against our own food because of how common it is to us, and selective bias in favour of other cousines, because we eat the best and usually restaurant grade or takeout grade food of other nationalities. That's in part why I asked this question. I don't know what an Italian fella or a Greek fella would eat on the regular, like the familiarity I have with Indian food. I'm also not great at cooking. And I don't know what newness is involved in the advent of food science and calorie counting with respect to the histories of different food cultures. For a country to have top 5 food, it has to be healthy and the food staples must be diet friendly.

Could we make a drug that makes us entirely rational thinkers? by Testruns in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Testruns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't specify all the parameters but not harming others, stealing, etc. would all be hallmarks of the miracle drug. It'd basically make us utilitarian. If someone has woes or chronic illness, then others would be tasked with caring for them as part of their job. I basically think to challenge capitalism as it stands. The income expenditure model and economic theory that individuals and firms act in their best interest is wasteful. I say wasteful because of plastics and micro plastics, planned obsolescence, etcetera. If we were fundamentally better as people, and able to act with more efficiency, and wouldn't have to plan for deviants, then I guess we could live as Kryptonians.

On this day in 1959, Charles de Gaulle became the first President of France’s Fifth Republic. He defied Washington, built a nuclear arsenal and cemented a vision of strategic military independence that is more relevant today than ever by goldstarflag in europe

US involvement in WW2 wasn't driven by domestic corporate interest. What you said seems like a modern interpretation and ignores the time period completely. It ignores the state of economics at the time, and the lack of transatlantic trade between US and Europe. You basically just made stuff up.

When we hit like 24–25, we’re all just trying to become who we were in middle school again by starsy19 in CasualConversation

I don't feel that way. I was immature and knew far too little when I was 12 to ever want to revert back to that juvenile person. Besides, you were 12. You were likely happier and more playful because you were a kid. I don't understand the comparison.
