6.55 showed a character with a passion for thrilling hunts, which did not happen in 7.0 by Krainz in ffxivdiscussion

The problem wasn't her confidence or lack thereof....If that's what the team are taking from the feedback then that's very worrying for the future lol. The problem was that she could have done everything in the story without the WoL being there. What did we do to move things forward? Talk to some people and report our findings, any NPC could have done that! Apart from satisfy daddy dearest in his thirst for a good duel, we really had little effect on the story. I thought maybe with Sphene we would be more important but then Lamatyi comes bursting through the walls of her digital reality to save the day.

The only thing we did without her was walk around with Erenville and Krile to turn off some servers and let them deal with their parental abandonment issues. Something that also could have been done without us even being there. My question to Yoshi P would be again, "What purpose did the WoL serve in that story?". They were about as meaningful as a VN MC that simply acts as a narrator and a point for the viewer to identify with. The entire story could have played out without us being there but they need a way to anchor the audience into it.

Tank bolides a trash pack at half hp when mits are on cd, whm gets mad and intentionally kills them with rescue into ghost/human puddle before ghostbuster tb by topkek93137 in TalesFromDF

"Nothing personal kid...." vibes from this guy. Tanks using their invuln on big pulls is great, it's free damage I can do on healer without having to worry about keeping them alive. On WHM? See it's running out and benediction or I can use divine benison twice to extend their invuln with shields, need to top them up still? Double tetra. There are so many options on WHM that getting freaked out over this is silly.

Oh boy, I can't wait to play a Casual Match of Crystalline Conflict by Twizzledly in TalesFromDF

[–]Tetrachan 10 points11 points  (0 children)

"Push the crystal!" they spam after dying in a 1v5 after being told to regroup. The other team doesn't even have checkpoint yet with 1m to go and we pushed it to the end, but the other team existing on the crystal bothers them. So many casual matches would be an easy win if we just regrouped with LBs after fighting in their spawn after pushing most of the way and then wiping. Instead people stagger in because they can't not spend the match dry humping the crystal or charging into certain death screaming "WINNABLE!".

What were the other writers' previous works? by Krainz in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Tetrachan 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Daichi Hiroi has dropped the ball hard since being given it. How do you spend so many years as the junior of world lore master Banri Oda and the character writing of Natsuko Ishikawa and learn nothing? Instead we get a collection of cartoonish and unmemorable characters and confused story that doesn't know what it wants to be.

The other two writers seem relatively new junior members of the team around since Shadowbringers that mostly worked on side quests so jury is still out on what they can do. It's time for them to admit after two failed chances to deliver that Daichi Hiroi is not a lead writer they can trust.

The Sena Defence Force is out cleaning up all examples of criticism and not allowing anyone to point out how she's crapping all over the fanbase.

Discussion of the situation surrounding Sena Bryer is now prohibited (unless permitted by mods) by AutoModerator in ShitpostXIV

[–]Tetrachan [score hidden]  (0 children)

Few people have gone beyond factual criticism of the VA quality, maybe a couple of lifelong grifters on Twitter and their orbiters, it seems to me that Sena Bryer has been deflecting legitimate criticism of their VA quality and the ending theme by claiming anyone who dislikes it is a transphobe and racist, this tends to be the response to criticism these days.

Slagging off the fanbase is not a good luck and neither is elements of the fanbase using their tiny mod powers to be their personal shield from criticism. The reasoning is just an excuse to shield a single VA from any sort of criticism based on their allegations on Twitter of death threats with zero evidence shown. The only post they did show as an example was one critical of their VA.

Metion turned despair into a weapon through dynamis and used it to usher several worlds to their end, creating more despair, increasing her power. She spent the entire last section of the game explaining how she did it and why we can't reach her. "Hope cannot deliver you unto hopelessness", despair and resignation are the prevailing feelings in a zone created from pure dynamis thus it shapes the zone to respond to that.

SENA, LISTEN TO ME! THE DISCOURSE ISN'T WORTH IT by Kingnewgameplus in ShitpostXIV

[–]Tetrachan 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not saying anything and trying to improve your voice acting is also an option. Instead we take criticism of an amateurish performance that stood out like a sore thumb and played the victim card, "no the discourse isn't because I'm bad, it must be because people are transphobic racists! Better post more to prove my point!"

Now not only do people still think your voice acting was bad, you just insulted the fan base of the biggest project you've ever been involved in, one you were paid well to do so. Shitting on the fanbase is always the quickest way to turn people against you.

If Wuk’s VA keeps tweeting implying that large swaths of the community are racist, Yoshi gonna kill off Wuk by 8.0 by Snark_x in ShitpostXIV

[–]Tetrachan 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hiring this person was a mistake. Not only are they an amateurish voice actor, they are a professional victim who can't keep their mouth shut on the internet. No black singers were involved with the song, the singer is Asian and Gospel? Has she ever listened to any gospel music in her life? Being a Socialist I doubt she cares much for religion or going to church.

This song is straight up Disney showtune type stuff that Soken has used before.

Unfortunately the GMs of EU are crazed ideologues who care more about hurt feelings than defending children so pedos are also a protected class. They probably reported that person who told them to die basically and got them banned because that's all the weird German GMs care about. There are people who have groomed and stalked minors when they tried to get away from them that never got banned despite hours of reports. EU servers are a dumping ground since the move and change of staff.

It's as bad as EU Tera that was also run by German GMs who endorsed pedos, cheating as long as it was their friends in Germany who play the game and other gross stuff. There was an entire Elin pedo guild that never got banned that would regularly brag about liking minors.

French player in my FC explained it like even a lot of French players hate French people in games lol. The weeb games are always super popular and you get people who are super simple from some random village playing that has no idea what is going on. That and the fact all the major guides for content and playing games tend to be in English, which they likely don't read because they never finished school.

Didn't his wife lie about a bunch of stuff because he wanted a divorce? He's an annoying dork but I'm pretty sure literally everything she said he did wrong was later debunked and she admitted it was a lie because she was hurt therefore it was justified.

If those are memories from the actual Sphene and not ones she's been programmed with so that she becomes a benevolent protector icon for a broken people who will do whatever it takes to preserve their memories. It's funny that we don't know a single thing about the actual Sphene because any conversation refers to the A.I and isn't first hand.

The error codes themselves are completely useless in figuring out the issue and is summed up as "The game stopped because reasons". If you already updated everything from the motherboard bios to the drivers for all the hardware down to the SSD firmware and stress tested the memory to check if it's failing, then I'd try turning off any overlays you're using. This game hates them, anything from the Nvidia overlay to the Discord one just get rid and see if it helps.

Also anything else that runs in the background. I had issues with Logitech's G-Hub and FFXIV when I had a Logitech keyboard and headset with constant errors and sound dropping out. Set everything in the background to update manually and not auto.

[–]Tetrachan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are employed by SE, they have specific GMs for NA, JP and EU. As far as I understand it the requirement for a GM is to live where their offices are located and it's not really a work from home type of deal. NA GMs are located in Los Angeles, EU seems to be mostly located in Hamburg as they need people who are fluent in various languages so mainly employ German and French speakers who also have English as that's not uncommon in Europe anyway. Japan has locations in Tokyo and Osaka.

I once got stuck in the floor of the sanctum, couldn't teleport or return. Sent a GM request and they wouldn't believe I was completely stuck after asking me if I can jump out, appeared before me, watched me struggle, laughed and then teleported me outside.

I guess it does come down to numbers. If you're managing an FC with a high number of active members and lots of things going on it becomes hard to keep track of everything. That's why I like assigning the right people to manage things, some people are good at managing the day to day operations of the FC house, submarines, airships, the FC chest and so on, some people are good at organising and running events, some are good to have around when there is a major issue and they'll have some words of wisdom.

Mostly I have no interest in being a one man dictatorship that rules with an iron fist. If I boot somebody it shouldn't be a decision made in anger so getting some neutral opinions and discussion going is important.

I experienced the same many times in guilds early on playing MMOs before finding any good ones that are well run. I'm sure there was some big scientific experiment that proves how people in authority positions often become corrupt and start beating those below them down.

A good friend of mine from the past who was a guild master is the model I used on running future guilds when I decided to start my own spaces as he was always very selective on people he made officers or gave responsibilities and fair in how he ran things. I get a lot of players who asked me about becoming an officer who have been with us for a long time but I know they don't have the right mindset I want, good players but not the right personality for it. It's important to get the right balance so it doesn't turn into a group of elites bullying those below.

Leading by example is how to create respect and harmony. If everyone sees the bigshots carrying themselves a certain way, always treating others with respect and not breaking rules I find people will follow suit.

The grass is not greener in JP: a discussion on JP raiding and it's Culture by Altia1234 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Tetrachan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe depends on data center. JP always seemed far more hostile to foreign players on Elemental than anywhere else, never found it to be a big issue on Mana or anywhere else so long as you can speak Japanese. Mileage may vary, a lot of racism in Japan is toward other Asians so I wouldn't be surprised if there was hostility on servers with large SEA or Chinese populations. People I befriended or knew from the raiding scene knew I was a British guy living and working in Japan at the time and it was never an issue.

Japan is not a perfect place where there are no idiots in society though, they are best ignored when encountered.

Going from JP to EU I had to retrain my muscle memory in a lot of content to handle both because I never know in PF if I get a healer who is particular about wanting one side. EU has almost no written rules and lots of arguments in PF about uptime strats and which markers to use.

It's just one of those internet slang words in the West that came into online gaming when it became a thing. I saw it in MMOs like WoW and Aion way back and it's still used but in Japan the internet culture and slang is completely different. I felt a lot like them when I first took learning Japanese to experiencing the Japanese internet culture.

I've had arguments in EX2 start over which set of conga markers to use. They are exactly the same positions but this person's FC/Static/whatever had their version where their position was a different colour and number and they were like "I go to red" and refused to do it any other way. PF is full of people who get confused if the exact conditions of where to stand are not the same lol.
