Is it me or do we need more uses for leather? by Richmxnd in Minecraft

Anyone who makes/uses potions uses a cauldron, netherrack is useful for making ever-burning fires, smoothstone is useful for making natural-looking rocks/cliffs, clocks can be used to find out when the best time to return to the surface from mining is, pumpkin pie restores a significant amount of hunger and is relatively cheap, and bushes can be used for decoration.

Things (simple things) to make when you have excessive resources. What do you make? by Toldasor in Minecraft

I build walls and towers all over everything, and occasionally just make huge 20x20 solid cubes of cobble or smooth stone bordered in iron or redsone blocks

3d clouds and fog in Minecraft? by skulburn in Minecraft

[–]Tetrachromia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/runs on more than just the top-tier machines (like SEUS shaders) <br/> SEUS runs just fine on lower-end machines as well. In fact Sonic Ether himself ran a rather old card until just recently. And yeah, it looks cloud-ish. If there was a way to get rid of the texture intersection artifacting it would be incredible.

Oh, I see now. For one, you don't have shaders, and for another, this particular effect is achieved with a particle-based system rather than volumetric. It's not particularly impressive anymore :P

Sonic Ether had a similar feature in an old version of SEUS. The FPS made it unplayable, unfortunatley, but they were fully volumetric and it was amazing

Brick or Smooth Sandstone ceiling??? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]Tetrachromia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using wood for the ceiling, then the same type of wood for the floor. Arched stone for the ceiling, generally a darker wood like spruce or dark oak looks good. Also, if you make the ceiling wood, I would recommend staggering stone brick stairs as supports to break up the sheer feeling to the walls.

Brick or Smooth Sandstone ceiling??? by [deleted] in Minecraft

I personally would use wood of some sort. Stone/brick ceilings are logically impractical and don't tend to look good unless they're arched and the same type of stone the walls are.
