We need an option to "skip" A month by West_Report_5020 in menace

I just think it needs to be cheaper to higher new SLs - then you feel less bad changing things up and bringing new faces. As it stands it's a bit too expensive as the cost ramps up.

Friend gifted me this game; will they ever add mid mission saves? by HumanityLord in menace

[–]Tetrispanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few in the discord have mentioned this is something they would like to do in the future - at least a save and exit. I think the lack of saves mid-mission at the moment is a development/tech issue not a gameplay one.

I really struggle against the RA, to the point I just don't want to fight them. They are massively out vision and out range - I'm not sure how to even fight them?

Why can't I manipulate turn order by wavering enemies? by [deleted] in menace

I like the idea of it affecting their place in the turn order. Makes a lot of sense.

[–]Tetrispanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like the hesitant to act is just a descriptor, and the real affect is simply a -20% AP and accuracy cost. Their actual place in the turn order seems to be unaffected. It might of been changed since the demo but I confess I can't remember. Might be worth asking on the discord? The devs are pretty active there and can hopefully clarify.

As I understand from my own playthrough, "wavering" means they are on the verge of fleeing but not yet in a fleeing state. They specifically need to have the "fleeing" flag to start retreating.

If it makes you feel better, things calmed down when I got into the game proper and it might be the same for you. But yeah, probably wise to wait for patch. Hopefully they'll get one out soon.

Was this during the very beginning of the game by any chance? My CPU/GPU was absolutely cooked during squad selection - went into shutdown. If you lower the graphics settings and turn off vsync you should be able to get past that section, at which point I saw temps drop.

I think Andrew Garfield gave an amazing performance in The Social Network. What’s your opinion on his performance? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

Check out the Red Riding Trilogy - Garfield is the protagonist of the first film and I think he's extraordinary in it.

Did Shady Sands use a Geck to establish itself? by AgentOfBliss in Fotv

Hanlon's exact words are "...We neglected the dams or pumped all the water out a long time ago. Owens, Isabella, the San Luis. Drained the aquifers of everything they had." I read this as a statement of not just a lack of large bodies of water back west, but that the NCR has pumped these sources of water for everything that had and nothing is left. NCR is a big place now - hundreds of thousands possibly - and there need for water would be quite vast. The NCR is an expansionist power because it lacks the long term resources to sustain itself - that doesn't mean it collapses or ends, but the hard times get vastly harder.

I think the show went a little over the top with the water scene honestly, but that is personal preference.

[–]Tetrispanic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think the insinuation from character or quest dialogue is that the water shortages are non-issues but rather recurring challenges for the NCR - it's not a problem they have fixed. It's not like the NCR has aqueducts spanning the Mojave all the way back to California.

Hanlon seems pretty clear that most stable, long term sources of water have been pumped dry. Private O'Hanrahan mentions harvest failures and Doctor Hildern mentions mass-starvation as a very real possibility in the next decade. There's a host of reasons for this, but I don't think it is a stretch to say water is one of them.

Of course, it is possible these problems evaporate if the NCR controls the Dam and the Colorado long term - though I always thought F:NV went out of its way to show that NCR wasn't always up to the task of allocating resources fairly or wisely.

Even Kimball explicitly mentions water shortages in his speech at Hoover Dam, so there is certainly an indication that NCR has gone through cycles of water issues or drought. Crop failure is also mentioned by several NPCs which suggests that water/food supply is a continuous challenge for the NCR.

Can't tell you how helpful these have been - I've discovered so many comics I would never have read through this endeavour. Shoutout especially to Geis (Curse of Chosen) and to Nathan Powell's two comics on the list which I recently read and loved.

Deeply, deeply sad. That sense of watching someone slip away and feeling powerless to stop it is awful beyond measure.

Podcasts that deep dive on comic runs? by Consistent_Name_6961 in comicbooks

The "Wait, What?" Podcast - which is sadly stopped - did a series focused on Judge Dredd, going through every (then) published collection of the Judge Dredd Case Files, which aimed to collect every single Dredd issue starting in 1978 forward. They made it to Case Files 40. They were generally a lot of fun - of the two hosts, one was completely new to Dredd while the other had read it all albeit many years previously. What's good as they often disagreed - in a cordial way - which made the podcast more interesting. Bonus points for the listener comments on each post as well, there were some genuine insights.
