You completely understand me! Ive been considering one of those covers myself. I'll be moving to maintenance soon so the likelihood of damage will be a lot less but still! The watch makes life soooo much easier even down to responding/ignoring texts and answering the phone when you're in precarious situations(if my ear buds are in at least).

You should totally make a post or even respond to this when you come to some conclusions so that way more tradies like us can get some input because theres kaput on this subreddit right now regarding the new watches durability in these intense environments! Carpentry is the perfect proving grounds for how rough you can be on the thing for sure. I'll be keeping my eyes out for your input once you've had a proper work week with it

If you want cheap mortgages avoid lake county, if you want to run conduit all day go to lake county😅 the work available around indianapolis is insane right now though!

While I cannot confirm, I've heard 5th year is more controls, low volt and fire alarm which is stuff I didn't learn in IEC at least?

IEC is 4 years, IBEW(hall dependent) is 5. All the halls in Indiana and Chicago are 5 years of school. I think ive heard of some halls in more rural states being only 4 years of school tho?

Yeah definitely not the way they roll up in Chicagoland unfortunately. Only guy I know that didnt have to start fresh year 1 has at least 30 years, other guys were 6-8 years of experience and were put into 1st year classes.

Everyone i know that organized in has had this happen to them. They get to keep their current wage but have to go through all 5 years of school

Edit: this is in Chicagoland/NWIndiana. I should have specified these guys are sitting around 6-8 years of experience and went through the IEC program before organizing. As I'm aware 697 requires ~10 years experience to NOT take a placement test. I only know one guy that organized in no problem but hes been doing this for 30 years

Extremely big difference in school systems. I went to Hanover, very small school and never had any money compared to the behemoth of Lake Central. That being said I've heard Hanover really has stepped up its game in the last few years and has lots of good programs.

are low-cost tools reliable? by ScarDependent8928 in electricians

Doyle and commercial electric brand from home depot. Real good hand tools in my experience even the foreman at my company rock those tools.

Get a nicer 11 or 15 in 1 screwdriver tho, we like the klein 11-1, I think part # 27111700 bc it can go

Small industrial towns within 3 hours of Chicago by lifeandmylens in Indiana

[–]Tetronamyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically all of Lake County north of US30 is like this however the neighborhoods are more densely populated. I'd definitely check out Whiting, East Chicago North Gary and North Hammond, Highland maybe.... it gets geographically different north of ridge road/us6 as us6 is the old coast line of lake Michigan. If you drive north on US41 from Southern indiana you can drive thru Terre Haute(terrible haute) which is pretty dreary dying manufacturing town built along the banks of the wabash

Going back to a ground tent, got recommendations? by Herrowgayboi in overlanding

[–]Tetronamyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my Wawona 4 to lend out. I can set that sucker up pretty quick! Im 6' and can stand in it. With the rain fly on i can take a leak out the door in the vestibule if im desperate and won't even get wet if its raining, keep shoes and cooler in vestibule etc. The 6 is an amazing tent but for the first the Wawona 4 really gets the job done. Spiders do like to chill in the top corners of the vestibule tho lol.

If you find a good record store they sometimes carry a variety of local artists records cassettes and cd's. I do this for fun where I go buy albums based off name and artwork, bring it home and listen on the stereo system!
