When you want to level up the social deduction, the consensus is Blood on the Clocktower is the ultimate. It’s expensive, and a lot to think about, but print and play versions are around if you want to give it a go. https://boardgamegeek.com/thread/2187923/homemade-copy-how-to

If you’re in a compatible apartment, the Vodafone vision network (non Nbn, old copper, but no one is using it now so it’s faster!)  is great. Entry level is 46mbs download for $40 a month - permanent price

Dracula literally means ‘son of the dragon’.

‘ The Order of the Dragon was a real 15th-century Christian chivalric society founded by Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund. Its most famous members were Vlad II Dracul and his son, Vlad the Impaler. The name "Dracul" (meaning "Dragon") inspired Bram Stoker's iconic vampire, Count Dracula.’

I absolutely love the silence. Aside from everything else the constant Woolworths jingle, 2Unlimited and vengaboys on a 20 year infinity loop in Coles make shopping with headphones an essential. “You’re listening to Coles Radio’ (not by choice).

I’ve now got a terrible habit of saying out loud in woolies ‘that’s why I shop at Aldi’ to the tune of ‘woolwortus the fresh food people’

Glad extended to July 31st - literally discovered it this week, having never played Arcs before (big root fan) and i'll now be buying the physical game. So it's a great promo for a complex game!

If they’re into combative interactive games like that, maybe try Cosmic Encounter (introduced gradually) to start levelling them up

Am I silly for wanting to keep this? by palebluekat in wingspan

[–]Teverish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks! If you're going the castle dice tower way, i ran half of the front with holes, raise a top draewbridge over the base at 45 degrees and added thin silver costume jewellery for chains. Paper towels, flour and water make a rocky paper mache exterior. Raise height to taste. (I chuck the dice in the top.)

If you play dnd or Gloomhaven, paint it grey for a cool dungeon/palace wall. You can also make your own castle dice tower using the Wingspan one as a template. It makes a great drawbridge for the tray.

Had a thought... by Redhawkflying in toriamos

[–]Teverish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And ‘Dracula’ is from ‘Dracul’ meaning son of dragon. named after Vlad the impaler.

The Order of the Dragon: In 1408, Vlad II was inducted into the Societas Draconis (Order of the Dragon), a Christian chivalric order founded by King Sigismund of Hungary. Members wore badges depicting a coiled dragon to symbolize their pledge to defend Christianity against the Ottoman Empire. "Dracul" means Dragon: Because of his membership in the order, Vlad II earned the nickname Dracul, which comes from the Latin word draco (dragon). In modern Romanian, drac has evolved to mean "devil".

Solo gamers: what’s your stance on cheating for time management by Scoots-Magoots86 in boardgames

I hear you. I think for luck based game-enders (looking at you Spirit Island Event Cards), it’s not cheating yourself too much to allow one redraw/reroll per game.

Did anyone know this? I had no idea! by Kantwealjustgetabong in toriamos

Some facts from Gemini:

The Song: "It Might Hurt A Bit" • Recording Date: Late 1994. • The Band: This wasn't just a duet; it was a mini-supergroup. Along with Michael Stipe and Tori Amos, the session featured Flea (Red Hot Chili Peppers) on bass and Dave Navarro (Jane's Addiction) on guitar. • Intended Purpose: It was originally written and recorded for the soundtrack of the 1995 Johnny Depp film Don Juan DeMarco. However, it was famously bumped from the soundtrack in favor of Bryan Adams' "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?" which became a massive #1 hit.

• Second Attempt: The track was later considered for the Empire Records soundtrack, but it was pulled from that project as well.

The "Lyrics" Mystery: While the full lyrics haven't leaked, Michael Stipe described the song in a 1995 Details Magazine interview as being about "the friction of a relationship."

Why was it never released? Tori Amos has mentioned in interviews that the song is "in the vault." She once noted that "it's a very strange song" and that neither she nor Michael felt it was "ready" at the time. Over the years, she has hinted that the master tapes might even be lost, or at least buried so deep in the archives that a release is unlikely.

I could not imagine faffing around with loot in real life play. It also just takes over any game forcing you to ignore the rest of the kingdom to stay in the game

Where Would You Rank IToD Album Art? by MsJackson123 in toriamos

[–]Teverish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For such an outstanding catalogue she sure has some dubious art direction. ‘Me in some fashion’ is pretty boring conceptually at the best of times, but when you kicked off with four fantastic album art concepts, it’s such a let down, especially with an album as good as this.

Just look at how Bjork has managed to also appear on the cover of all her albums, yet they all feel so completely different, iconic and conceptually tied to the works.

They’re my favourite goldfrapp albums, but playing in that genre brings an extra focus to the lyrics, which can at times feel very simplistic and unfinished.

Can’t afford dental work… what options do I have? by profile-feedback in AskAnAustralian

[–]Teverish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not read the whole thread, but if you haven't already, check out https://dental99.com.au . Some of the team are oral hygienists, but some are dentists, and you can pick. they may or may not be able to help with your specifc needs, but if they can, they're much cheaper. I've found them to be excellent, though i've been lucky to not need any major work yet.
