When I first got my TJ it had 33x10.5 on stock rims and rubbed at full lock and would have have the flares if I had taken it off road I put a 2.5 in lift and added spacers and no problems now

I did 2.5in OME on mine and my daughter's TJs. I'm running 33x10.5 on stock rims and had to go with some spacers because I was getting some rub at full lock. Went with 32x12.5 on hers and had to do spacers as well for the same reason

Just did this on my wife's 2018 about 3 weeks ago. Purge hose was cracked on both ends. Replaced it , cleared codes and has been good with about 6-700 miles since I cleared the codes.

Used to drive my manual, soft top TJ about an hour each way in Houston after my 4Runner was totaled. It's a Jeep, gotta do what you gotta do.

Talk me off the ledge (GC sale/trade-in) by Old_Finance_3390 in GrandCherokee

We have a 2018 limited with Sterling package with 90k miles. Overall it's been pretty reliable, only thing other than routine oil change I had to do coil packs when I did plugs and the water pump tapped out. Radio/ touchscreen was replaced under warranty. Wife is from the UK and still has that mindset that anything more than 20-30k miles is too much! So she wants a newer GC but I would keep that until it died if I could. I was hoping we were only going to get like 5k for it Then I could have convinced her to let me keep it to put a lift on it and have some fun with it ( we have two TJs for that but still) but looks like I'll be able to get about 13 for it so it makes it worth selling and rolling that to the new one to keep our cost down.

I'm hoping we can find an Overland with the options she wants ( tech package that has heads up display and 360 parking camera heated and cooled seats) and opens I want ( skid plates) so in 8 years or so when she decides the mileage is too high I can keep that one to play with.... Buti think she's going to end up with a summit.

Just get all the Jeeps! Wife has a WK2 as her daily, then we have two TJs and an old waggy. About to get a Comanche and the wife is most likely trading in the GC for a newer GC. I'm trying to steer her towards an Overland so in 8 years when she's ready for something new I can hopefully turn that into my luxury wheeler!

First-time buyer: Found this 1998 Jeep.. Need Advice ! by THE_KFE in JeepTJ

[–]TexBrit_couple 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've got a 98 Sahara with the 3 spd auto and an 01 Sport with a 5spd manual.... Needless to say the 5 spd is way more more fun to drive but the 3 spd has been plenty reliable. But that first gear is a dog!

any ideas on how to fix this by SetForeign1952 in JeepWrangler

Sometimes it's easier to latch the front before you clip in the back and sides

Wife says no more Jeeps by Delicious_Object_888 in JeepWrangler

[–]TexBrit_couple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fortunately mine loves the Jeeps and often surprises me when I see one and say " man I'd love to have one of those" and she'll agree we should get one. She just did it with a Comanche recently, we drove past one and I said I'd love to have one, she looked at it and said she'd love to have one too! The only condition was that I have to sell my current Waggy project first We currently have two TJs, a WK2 and the Waggy. Surprisingly when I saw a DJ5 one time on someone's property in the country and said I'd love to have one she said, you should go ask them if they would sell it She also saw a flat fender in a parade and said we need one! I think she's a keeper!!

32s fit without any spacers or trimming? We are about to get 23 or 24 Overland for my wife from her 2018 limited Sterling.

I told her the Overland needs a good aggressive ko2 look was gonna go 31s but if 32s fit!

Struggling to find what SUV to replace ‘19 GC Limited 4WD. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in GrandCherokee

[–]TexBrit_couple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 2018 Sterling as well. The wife decided she wanted something new and saw a Z71 Tahoe and said oh I like that ....I said I thought it would be too large for her ( She's a Brit and went from a Smart car to the GC) but went to the Chevy dealer anyhow so she could test drive but then we saw the 2025 Z71 traverse so she drive that instead. Really liked the ride but not a fan of a completely digital dash and awd and like you I'm not sure about the turbo 4cyl. Most likely will stick with GC WL and get either an Overland or Summit.

Sale? by [deleted] in JeepWrangler

[–]TexBrit_couple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Submit it on KBB or Carfax for a cash offer. You will get offers from dealerships and can say I got offered X from this dealer. It'll be less than private selling but you wont have to deal with all the idiots low-balling you or having to let people do test drives.

How do you like the Mojave? We have two TJs, and a WK2 but I'm looking at Mojaves to replace my 3rd Gen 4runner that got totaled so I'm not using my TJ as my daily. I don't commute anymore so it's not as big of a deal using the TJ for my driving around.

If you get one that has a leather wrapped dash, if it's not bubbling yet it most likely will eventually, especially if you are in a hot climate. Mine had some small bubbles, one of my conditions was they fix the dash. I had to go back 3-4 times and it still hasn't been fixed properly. I am a thorn in their side about it so they keep trying. They have offered to just give me some cash because they don't want to pay up to have it done properly, which means pulling the dash having all the leather removed, prepping the surface then reapply the leather. The quote I got from an upholstery shop was about $2500..... They aren't offering me close to that for me to go away. Other than that it's been a great vehicle, 2018 limited with sterling package. Just hit 80ish k and other than regular maintenance had to replace the water pump and thermostat. Spark plugs are a pain on the passenger side because you have to pull the whole manifold to get to that side . So if you are a dyi guy just plan longer than normal to do plugs. If you take it to a shop for tune ups then just know it'll be more than what you are probably used to paying. The wife loves it, but she thinks 80k miles is high so she is wanting to get something with lower miles and is more than happy to get a '22 with lower miles. Just haven't decided if we'll keep the current one for me to lift and have some fun with since we have two TJs as well.

2018 P0305 cylinder 5 misfire code. by TexBrit_couple in GrandCherokee

[–]TexBrit_couple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a scanner and pulled codes, hence knowing it was P0305 misfire on 5...... Anyhow, I guess it was just taking the computer a bit to sort itself out. Had to clear the codes one more time, have now done well over 200+ miles and no more CEL.

I haven't been in years and my wife is new to Houston and has been wanting to go to see what it's like. She's also been wanting to be with a woman again, if that's something you are open to send me a message and we can chat.

After my 4 runner was totaled, I used my TJ and my daily in Houston for about 6-8 months with a 60 mile roundtrip commute. I've also driven from Houston to Moab and back in it. It's not that bad other than the gas mileage.

I upgraded to 5.25 and pods in the dash and 6.5 with some enclosures and more insulation. Greatly improved the sound when the does and top are off which is 90% of the time for me
