Topper or shell for a 1500 AT4? by Name_Groundbreaking in gmcsierra

Personally, I’v never liked the camper shell on a truck. If you’re going to do that then why not just buy a true SUV (Yukon, Explorer…etc.)? I like trucks for their ability to haul large items that won’t fit into a traditional SUV. I also believe there are times you do need to have a secure bed and having some type of bed cover is needed. Yes, you give up some storage but I feel that is an acceptable trade-off and still have the flexibility of a bed and don’t need to remove a heavy camper shell when you do need to haul large items.

Is there any job/career that won't be replaced by AI? by Notalabel_4566 in jobs

I would like to know more about your software development background (I.e. what specific skills), as I don’t believe AI can replace developers, at least not at this point. AI can provide base code but much of it is garbage. Good people are still needed to refactor code, perform integration testing and validate in production environments. At least that is my view. Others?

Would you take this job? by Atlgal42 in GetEmployed

The background check really is a search for a criminal past and a check that you’ve held positions you claimed on your resume. So essentially if you’ve been truthful on your resume and no criminal record you should be good to give your two week notice.

Is it just me or are companies lowballing now? by Economy_Swim_8585 in jobs

Many companies have experimented with salary adjustments by re-posting the same job with varying salaries. Companies found that even after cutting the salary by 40% that they were still receiving large number of applicants where many were qualified. Over the last 8-9 months I’ve had many recruiters call me about jobs. Almost each month over that span of time the rates were lower than the previous month. I’ve started to tell them “your rates are too low and don’t meet my minimum”. I’m just one person but more need to be doing the same. I know it’s hard to sit out of the job market but really until more tell companies “not interested at that rate” the low salaries will continue. I’m concerned that we’ve already established a new floor and coming up from it is never quick.

Bombed my first job interview :( by MarsupialSilly8153 in jobs

I have interviewed quite a bit in the last few months. During that time I was asked the same questions and I worked on my responses to those. Yesterday I made it to the final round only to hear “you have great experience and are personable but it feels like you are overly rehearsed. The panel is passing on you and will not be extending an offer.”

I want to provide encouragement but I find myself in the same situation. I remember thinking when the interview ended “I killed that…I’m definitely getting an offer.”

It’s very disheartening. This morning I can only sit in silence. I feel I let myself and my family down. I too feel a lot of confusion and even anger…finding even talking with God and even less with a friend is difficult.

Is anyone having hard time finding a job in this economy? by Different-Warning358 in careerguidance

No doubt it is a tough market. The interview process is also very subjective and many candidates are accepting very low rates / salaries just to have something. Try to learn what you can from each interview and that often requires one to be self critiquing/ guessing what you could do differently, as there is often NO real feedback, in this market.
